Fuel injector pounds per hour?

No, you need about about a 4lb difference to cause codes, a few people have swapped in Flex fuel 3.0ls into non-flex Rangers, only real difference between flex and non-flex was the computer software and the larger injectors needed for ethanol(E85)
The non-flex computer would set Rich codes using the 4lb larger injector
And a flex computer would set lean code using 4lb smaller injectors
You just need to swap in correct injectors

Injectors are not the same "Jets", so no, larger injectors won't/can't increase power on their own, if you add a turbo or super charger then you could use larger injectors because you are adding more air flow

You can calculate your approx. injector size needed by using your expected horsepower or current horsepower
Say its a 4.0l OHV V6, so 6 injectors
Its rated at 160HP, formula is HP / 2, OR HP x .5 = pounds of gasoline needed in an hour
So 160 /2 = 80
So at max horsepower the 4.0l would need 80 POUNDS of gasoline an hour
80 pounds / 6 injectors = 13.3 so 14lb injector would work fine, they could provide up to 84 pounds an hour

400HP V8
400 / 2 = 200
200 / 8injectors = 25lbs an hour injector

This is a simple example, that works, but there is way more to it, I will leave that for you look up if it interests you :)

Would a 15.4 injector throw a code then, if it is looking for 14.8? I wonder if 15.4 injector would make it rich enough to make the o2 sensor open 20% longer. I doubt it. Hopefully I am understanding.

O2s don't Open :)
But no there is not enough difference to matter

Thanks so much RonD. I really learned a lot from this thread.

The 15.4 work great! No codes and my BII runs a poop ton better without the 30 year old injectors.
