Fuel filter


This is my '98. It is also missing the big safety clip just like yours. The filter tube is alot longer, allowing use of the tool shown. Could yours have a wrong filter?

I have no good idea what to do about fixing yours. I wonder about cutting it off and finding a new hose end - but that should be last resort.

Ok, been mulling this for an hour or so, and here is what I have come up with. It's basically what we do when the fingers get bent.

Get some side cuts and needle nose pliers. Cut your filter neck off. DON'T cut the FUEL LINE. Cut the FILTER. Then use the tool as intended, using the pliers to pull the neck out of the fuel line.
