That's even if you turn the steering wheel.

I tried both the torsen and the regular clutch-type posi in the front of my Dodge and it does the same thing. Any type of locker (especially "just welding up the spider gears") would be worse I think. If you're shooting up a sand dune it's not so bad, but trying to stay in your lane during a snow would be tough...

For my Ranger, I made a conscious decision not to put a posi or locker in the front, for just that reason. I did put a torsen in the rear and it does quite well. If I ever get to where 3 wheels are spinning, I'm glad the one wheel is keeping me from going sideways. I shouldn't be going any farther anyway - time to look for another way around!

I snow wheeled twice last winter with a lsd front and back. It's great when going straight up or down. NOT good going sideways or at an angle. On road the crown of the road can cause problems with all four wheels engaged. I've not tried engaging just one side of the front, just never crossed my mind at the time.

with a LSD, if you only lock in one hub, the front will be useless. The open side will get all the power, and thus you will have no wheels turning in the front. If you had a locker it would be a different story. This applies to people with a rear LSD, if you have your rearend cocked up and one tire in the air, the tire in the air will turn, and the one with most traction will not.

A limited slip is just that...limited slip...it only sometimes limits slip. That is why I run lockers front/rear. You just have to be more conscious of your driving, and know how to drive. After a while you dont even notice it.

The rear I'm not sure about but the front I had just done... The loaded [traction] tire would spin as well. Maybe not the whole 50% but most. It was fun.

Still want the locker? I just removed it. I'm taking pictures in a minute. If you're not sure because of driving in the snow etc, i'll just post it in the classifieds.

i think im gonna pass on the front locker. i might look for a rear locker instead. i just need to be able to use it in the snow. thank you tho

Being locked front and rear wasn't a problem for me in the now last year, my B2 went wherever I pointed it. I do agree with locking the rear first though.

I have quaife (torsen style diff) in the front of my 99. It's not hard to steer at all. There are times it will pull the front around the corner almost pulling the steering wheel out of your hands if you jump on it turning. No issues with it not turning
