A guy I work with is helping a buddy put together a V8 pulling tractor, basically it is an antique tractor they stuffed a built 383 into.
He brought in a pic of it the other day and I notice it has what appears to be a pusher fan on the front of the radiator but everything surrounding the fan is blocked off by aluminum plate. I ask what is up with that and am told it actually blows out the front of the tractor... so I figure fine, low speeds idling around in the pits and a quick dash down the track now and then... no biggie.
Later on he says that he is going to take it on tractor rides too, they have a minimum 10-12mph speed limit on the ride and usually getting there and back you run whatever you can (15-20 normally) with no 1500rpmish governer he could well exceed that. I ask how this is going to work and am told hot rods do it all the time so they don't blow hot air back on the engine/driver.
Personally I think it would be kind of stupid if they did unless it just a trailer queen... is this really that common?
