Front accessories (question/help/pics)

Not a super cooling expo. There 4 core. and I've pulled one b4.

FYI, it seems there is some special wrench to get the fan off the water pump, and while it is a major PITA the water pump can be removed with the fan still in place.

It is too night to get a normal wrench in there like I could on my V6.

Plan on some time if you have to pull it, there is a lot of crap to deal with.

The Explorer is only a two core radiator.

You can buy or rent the wrench at Advance Auto or Autozone. To hold the pulley, buy a chain wrench. I just changed the waterpump on my 99 7.3 diesel and went thru this. The chain wrench is the key to holding the pully to break the fan clutch nut.

I'm using a James Duff radiator (made by Afco) for my conversion.

I have to move the A/C condenser to the front side of the core support, and this radiator (like the one from Advanced Adapters) sits forward of the stock one - where the condenser used to be.

Using this radiator gains about 3 inches of space.

ya ive checked that one out a couple times, i can get expo 4 core from super cooling for 30 and all expo accesries for 80 from the u pull it place, and have plenty of room and still have way less than the price of that rad. im all about cheap and simple lol if u cant tell.

that way i can also keep condensor on normal side.

I know on a first generation there isn't a ton of room in front of the core support, my tranny coolers pretty much fill it up. Second generations are fairly similar (people do generation conversions without changing the core support with some hammer work for the headlight buckets)

Any pics of the super radiator?

Yeah - remounting the condenser is not something I am looking forward to doing.

The radiator was expensive, but it is really nice.

Let's just hope it works as well as it looks!

(this is the radiator in a merc carpri tho but this is it)

this is a 91-94 explorer heavy duty cooling or super cooling radiator, 4 core and hits any gen II ranger and i had one at one point but with stang accesories it pierced it.

picked my first one up from advance auto for 140. and at idle for 35 min with fan kicking on at 180 it never went above 185.

(then i gased it motor twisted and water pump straight into it =( but with or any shorter accesorie set up for that matter it will be perfect and cheap) specially if from a u pull it place

yup thats the rad sorry i thought they were 2 cores per row ie why i thought it was a 4 core, none the less thats the perfect radiator! thanks for the pics

I thought it was a four until someone pointed it out to me a couple years ago.

They are perfect, that extra edge is great for reinforcing fan mounts.

o nice! and ya i use the plastic thru the fin types but looking to fit a puller if possible this winter so i can have ac condenser where my fan is

I used them too but I didn't like the idea of the aluminum radiator tubes being the only support for the fan. It probably wouldn't be that big of a deal on a street truck but it is quick and easy to do.

ya i could see that being a problem for the hard hits of an off road use, not only that the plastic can take out a few fins and get loose which i dont like
