A friend called monday from the local scrap yard to tell me they brought in a smoked F250 with some 60's under it,could they be warped or bent from the heat?
Looks like it got pretty hot!

What do you guys think?
Dont have a price yet, should know tomm.

The F250 super duty's had D50 in the front not D60. So I'd pass.

Thats not good!
I didn't have a lot of time to check it out.
Not doubting you but I'm going back to check it out,it should be on the tag or stamped in the case right?

Depends on year ('99-'01 had the D50). Check the pinion nut size: 1-1/8" = D50. 1-5/16" = D60.

Also, there's only one 60 under those trucks if it does have one (rear is a Sterling 10.5").

Take a very close look and try to note if all the seals are still in the axle and are nothing more than just singed from any heat (pinion seal, boots on the balljoints, u-joints, etc.). If the seals are still there, I'm thinking chances are pretty good it'll be OK. If you find any seals looking pretty cooked though, I would suspect the whole thing probably had gotten hot enough to affect it's integrity.

I am willing to bet that the whole thing is probably still good judging by how there is still rubber left on the front tires......

Why are there pics of a NP205 and what appears to be a ball joint D60? They arent from the same truck are they? (they shouldnt be unless the 205 was swapped in)

that's what i was thinking too....:icon_confused:

Not from the same truck.
T-case is in a big pile at the other end of the yard.

Going back Monday and talk to the owner of the yards son,I can deal with him but his dad is a real pain in the ass...lol!
Hopefully I can get a better peak at the axel plus score the T-case.
Anybody tell me what Trans the case is hooked to?

How far up are you planning to go, that Diff Housing is BIG and in the middle.
The 85 4x4 has a lower center to its cross member and might interfere in an off-road twist.

Enough to clear 44x18.50's.:D
If I have to cut the Xmember out and make a new one....its not a problem.
Thanks for the input thou..:icon_thumby:.

I scored a set of 60's a while back and sold them :annoyed:.Never got to pick them up but I made a few bucks on them ...wished I would have kept them now.

nice plan...go big or go home:D

The yard has an old Skytrack 4x4 4 wheel steer fork lift I have been eyeballin hard.....lol!
Has a 225 Slant 6 in it.
Has a drop type Tcase built like an old Klune drive from a boat.

there's a few of those around here, too.been thinking the same thing.ride might be a bit rough, though.

Went back to the yard today an took some pics and taled to the guy that took in the truck,He says it was a 04 05.Took a few pics but the damn engine is still sitting on the frame so its hard to get to it.
They just torched the frame behind the engine and in front of the rear spring hangers.
The BOM # on the front is V611071-1 with 3.73 lc3 ja on the tag
The rear tag reads 3.5 409 h with l73 10.5 0m11 under it.I can get both axels with springs,the c-6 with the 205 for $350.

Outters...
