Frond End Shakeing Badly!!

So when ever i go down the road and hit a bump, my front end starts to shake somewhat aful. i have to come to a complete stop in the middle of the road. get goin again, hit a nother bump and do the same thing all over again. i have a steering stablizer. My question is, could my stablizer gone bad? if i replace it with a new one will it correct my prob. or do i have a bigger prob? TIA
 
You have bigger problems. Something is loose that it allowing the wheels or steering to shake back and forth like that.

Go over your whole front end. Look at the ball joints, TREs, wheel bearings, steering linkage, steering box bolts, ect.....
 
Does it shake bad enough to throw you off the road? My guess is that something is messed up in your frontend and you didn't look hard enough.
 
did it just start or was it always squirrely?did you slam it hard wheeling?either way i'de check the alignment,not enough caster will make it shimmy.
you could try changing the tires front to back also
 
no its not that bad that it throws me off the road, if i keep it goin when it shakes bad it might, but i always slow down when it starts. i can double check, but everything is new under there, from the pitman arm down, all the tie rods, and tie rod ends.
 
Sounds like "death wobble", although that phenomenon is normally associated with a solid beam axle, not TTB.

What's you steering geometry like? Caster angles? Is the linkage down flat? or is it pulled up at an angle at all?

how do i check my steering geometry? i can pull it up on level ground and take some pics and post them up if that would help yall any? or just tell me how to check and i can do it.
 
The steering linkage should be down flat (horizontal) from knuckle to knuckle. If it's up at an angle because the pitman arm is too short, that can cause several issues, although I don't think that by itself would cause your problem (but could possibly be a contributing factor).

I think you still may be overlooking something like bad pivot bushings maybe.

ill get pics of mine tom when i get off work. i do know i have a droped pitman arm. i think its skyjacker. ive had the truck for 3 years now, and it started doin it about a year and 2 months ago. its been off the road for like a year. but like i said ill get a couple shots tom and post them up. Well shit i just found some. sry about the mud, but ill grab some more pics tom still. a lil more detail.

ive had the truck for 3 years now, and it started doin it about a year and 2 months ago. its been off the road for like a year.
you've got worn/bent parts and or bad alignment.

your steering angle is shit but i ran a 6" skyjacker setup on an 88 with their drop arm and didn't have any shaking.it'll be all over the road but getting the rediculous drop arm won't solve the shake.
 
ive never had any probs with it before it started shaking, and l drove it every day for 2 years. so the steering aint that bad. hey a droped pitman arm on a lifted truck is better than a stock one rite?? lol. i think imma just take it to a alignment shop and get them to see what the hell is wrong, im almost tired of messin with it
 
No, that steering is no good at all. It's definitely not the sole cause of your shaking though.

Once you do find the problem, I'd go ahead and get a bigger pitman arm for that. You'll notice much better handling, and your tires will thank you too.
