Friendly Comparison of Ford 7.5 460 to Gm 8.1 496.

Who has driven both and what is there take.

The 8.1 is stouter then the 460 is about every way i hate to say. Not like "oh my god holy shit" stronger, but definatily stronger.

Both return low double digit MPG

I've towed 20k with the 460 and with my 8.1. I have to say putting the allison in tow haul wakes the beast. I get around 10 mpg towing light. 8-9 towing heavy.
