friction modifier do you need it

i did my rear end a while back and didnt put any of that stuff in there and just discovered i

have a limited slip rear end does that stuff make a difference i tried taking some fluid out

with a turkey baster and putting that stuff in but most of it came back out what should i

do
 
Park nose downhill and add it if you really want.

I like mine being a bit grabbier without it, on purpose.
 
i was just wondering if it would screw it up if i didnt have it
 
If you've been running it awhile, it's likely you already toasted your clutches...
 
o im almost positive i did i have alot op olay in the wheels and it thuds alot around corners

Friction modifier is used to help the clutches slip. In effect making them less effective to make them slide more easily & quietly.

Without the friction modifier it takes more effort to make the clutches slip & when they do they'll chatter & bang as they slip & grip. It sounds horrible but it doesn't really hurt anything.

I've rebuilt several Trac-loks & in my own truck I didn't bother with friction modifier. That was 5 years ago & it's still working like new.

If you can stand the chatter around the sharp corners there's no need for friction modifier, but if you can't go ahead and add some. It won't perform as well but it'll be quieter.

So, yes it does hurt something. Either way your clutches are going to slip when turning (unless the axle is locked, then your rear tires will take the abuse) so the clutch that is holding harder is subject to more wear.
 
I'm sure the clutches were worn out long ago. Don't worry about it.
 
Its there to reduce chattering while cornering, I wouldn't worry about it.

Sorry but I'm sticking with there is more of a side effect than just chatter and bangs. Your differential isn't supposed to be "okay" and "chatter and bang" at the same time..

Just my .02cents next to yours.
 
If you are looking for more performance out of your limited slip the don't run the friction modifier, if you want it to be smooth on the street add the friction modifier.

Without it your clutches might wear a bit quicker and your tires might wear a bit quicker aswell.

sounds like your clutches are chattering. if they were worn out, it would just act like an open. get your hands on a smaller suction pump and take out some fluid. add friction modifier, and make sure its full of gear oil again. :icon_thumby:
