I just spent 2 hours and 39 minutes reading your whole thread...and all I have to say is wow, I wish my 92 2wd 3.0 looked as half as good as yours. That quality is top knotch, you deserve an award, I voted for you in ORTOTM by the way...

I'm subscribed now and I'm sure this will be a very valuable resource when I rebuild and restore my truck...

One question though, removing the sway bar, are there any negatives? cause my tires rub on it right now at full lock, I'm gonna do a 2"ish lift so that might take care of the rubbing but I still might wanna make it removable or just leave it off

Negative: body roll out the wazoo!

the body roll is actually not as bad as i thought it might be, but then again every RBV that ive owned has never had one. as for the rubbing issue, how big of tires are you running and what kind of wheels are they. if you have stock wheels and theyre rubbing, you may need to get wheel spacers to push them out farther or get some new wheels with a better offset. the black cragar soft 8s on thumper were only $45 after shipping from summit, and they have many back spacing options available.

its got to be the back spacing of the jeep wheels, i believe the recommended backspacing for rangers with 15x8 wheels is 3.75". i dont know if youve rad this in the tech library, but its a good read and might help you make more sense of the wheel thing.

well i played in the snow, and i payed for it...... i had to walk home (luckily it was only a mile and a half) because my truck broke down again. it started running so badly that i couldnt even idle 1st gear to the end of the street that i was on. im going to bring home another distributor and cap and rotor and ill make sure to take pics. im just hoping i find the cause of this because im at the point where i hardly trust this truck enough to take me 3 miles down the road to get cold beer without having to think about walking back if it acts up and leaves me stranded. heres some pictures from this morning, theyre kind of small and crappy cause i took them with my phone

lucky for me terra came to my rescue and towed me home so that i didnt have to leave my truck on the side of the road all alone for the day.

im probably not going to get to it until christmas day, since the holidays have got me going in the wrong direction everyday. hopefully its something simple that wont take me lots of time and $ to trace down.i suspect its in the ignition but i have others telling me it sounds like fuel problems, so ill do a pressure test when its acting up and try to validate or disprove the fuel suggestion.

I hope you figure out whats wrong...how much body roll is there now that you took the sway bar off?

honestly its not even enough to notice. if i had a 2" lift all the way around it might be a different story, but since im sittin at stock height (basically, the springs werent really any taller if you saw the pics) i still have that low CG. if youre thinking about removing it to relieve your rubbing id say go for it. the bolts on your links will probably be rusted into the steel sleeves inside your bushings, so you may have to cut the head of the bolt and the nut off, but then everything else should come off easily. worst case scenario is that you will have to buy a new link kit ($14 part no.k8657 ) to re assemble the sway barlinks and 2 bolts to replace the lower ones you had to cut. i think its totally liveable and unless i put smaller tires back on or take out these coils for some reason, my swaybar will live the rest of its POR15 coated life collecting dust.

im back from christmas break and happy to say i survived it. i got a couple cool gifts this year, the first being a gently used bed extender from a 2007 fx4 level 2 ranger that my uncle had for a while.

terra and i exchanged gifts on christmas eve and she got me this awesome belt buckle with a picture of my truck lazer etched on it.

finally, my parents got me a roll of $ with some model car tires holding the money together, symbolizing that it was snow tire money! now i just have to wait until i have a day off and go get 2 more tires to put on those BII wheels. im still undecided if i want to paint the wheels black or rock them all nasty like they are?
