Forget the 4.0 and 5.0

me wants one, hopefully it has standalone ignition/efi so it wouldn't require too much rewiring. tobad they wont be showing up in scrapyards any time soon..scratch that, i think the ford dealer not far from here got hit by a tornado :(

Maybe you should ask them for it so you can put it through a normal torture test.:icon_rofl:

If I was going to haul stuff all the time in an F series.....I would not want the pos 3.5. I want a real motor. Now...if it's going in a Ranger....that would be cool. It would not be worth the cost unfortunately....

They put down similar power to the 6.2 big block but get almost twice the milage (low teens vs low twenties)... and you don't have to get the Lariet to get it.

I would do it in a heartbeat in a fullsize truck.

Personally I think they should kill the 4.0 and keep the Ranger going with the 3.7. Should have happened years ago.

I know two guys who bought the new 3.7 in their F-150's and they are not happy with the motor. They say the truck is great when not loaded with their gear or their boats they claim. Both trucks have had to be repaired for trans problems and both had a leaky head gasket and a rear main seal at less then 5,000....so I don't think that is really great. I would really want a real motor in my F-150 for real hauling like a boat or a heavy load.

Are you talking about the 3.7 non-Ecoboost or the 3.5 Ecoboost? They're two different engines, both available in the 2011 F150.

Neither engine has had a lot of problems.

My brother is a Senior Master tech at the local dealership, Ecoboosts are either in for predelivery inspections or oil changes. Nobody wants a 3.7... base V-6 F-150 engines never have been very common for farm trucks. 3.5EB and 5.0's are the biggest sellers... not counting the Super Duties (which are the most common farm truck)

Sorry. I do mean the 3.5 365 hp motor. My wife and I already drove one with the 3.5 motor in January this year. My brother-in-laws cousin works there. He also is the one that got me hooked up with a few test drives with a few Raptors!!!! I like the Raptor....A LOT!!!! But not the price. He told me that the new Ecoboost was not really a great motor for doing any serious hauling (boat, trailer). My wife and I drove over 10 different F-series trucks the past 2 years. After we drove the 3.5 Ecoboost I was not really impressed with it in the Supercab we drove. It seemed to lack any real power as I was expecting after driving a few V8 models. I drove the extended cab and liked the performance much better!!! A bit much weight, maybe? But...that Raptor....Ahhhhhhhh!!! One of my buddies bought the 2011 Raptor with that new monster motor and let me take it out for an hour one day late last year. Smoking hot ride!!! $40,000? Ahhhh my heart....got to go int debt real bad for that one...lol

Dunno, I haven't been in one but he is impressed with driving them compared the 5.4 or 5.0, and even the 6.2 considering the price and milage.

Obviously he hasn't towed with it, but nobody has come in the shop complaining about a lack of power.
