If I was going to haul stuff all the time in an F series.....I would not want the pos 3.5. I want a real motor. Now...if it's going in a Ranger....that would be cool. It would not be worth the cost unfortunately....
They put down similar power to the 6.2 big block but get almost twice the milage (low teens vs low twenties)... and you don't have to get the Lariet to get it.
I would do it in a heartbeat in a fullsize truck.
Personally I think they should kill the 4.0 and keep the Ranger going with the 3.7. Should have happened years ago.
I know two guys who bought the new 3.7 in their F-150's and they are not happy with the motor. They say the truck is great when not loaded with their gear or their boats they claim. Both trucks have had to be repaired for trans problems and both had a leaky head gasket and a rear main seal at less then 5,000....so I don't think that is really great. I would really want a real motor in my F-150 for real hauling like a boat or a heavy load.

Neither engine has had a lot of problems.
My brother is a Senior Master tech at the local dealership, Ecoboosts are either in for predelivery inspections or oil changes. Nobody wants a 3.7... base V-6 F-150 engines never have been very common for farm trucks. 3.5EB and 5.0's are the biggest sellers... not counting the Super Duties (which are the most common farm truck)
