this last few years gm has indeed caught up to ford and has a stout hd product.....ford should be scared....

The Raptor is a conversation peice and nothing more. It is not a race ready truck, it is more race ready than the average truck but is not intended to be raced out of the box. They could can the whole thing and not loose a ton of sales because of it... and it would be stupid to design a truck that could take everything that for the few that people would buy. And because of the hype, people won't hold back like they might with a regular truck. The F-150 already has the strongest frame in the industry, so everybody else would have to catch them before they could exceed them. In most areas of the country there are not even places to do anything with with a Raptor anyway... like around here we have $5-10k/acre cropground broken up by gravel or paved roads in one mile squares.
And yes you can spend $50k for a F-150, you can also spend $20k... depends on what kind of an F-150 you want. $30-35k will catch a pretty decent middle of the road truck.
And while fine IMO for a candid conversation (since the guy still has his job it must of been ok), I don't think it should have gone outside that room.
Yes they have. Amazing what an infusion of billions in taxpayer money will do to help out, huh?
If left to sink or swim (also known as 'free enterprise'), both GM and Chrysler would be footnotes in history, as they should have been - Chrysler TWICE gets bailed out (see: Jimmy Carter) to continue producing shit vehicles.
Sorry, f**k GM. And Chrysler. The only good part about this is that now FIAT owns a majority of Chrysler; I say good, because it's gonna be a much harder sell to bail their sorry asses out now that they're foreign-owned.
the raptor is not simply a conversation piece---faaaar from it! its not even a 150. far from that too.
Conversation piece in that it will never be the gravy train the regular F-150 is. It is a limited production item to stir interest and to get people to come in the dealership and maybe get something else while they are there. Kind of like a Shelby.
I would very much rather have at least a F-250 for the money they think a Raptor is worth.
I'm sure there is a lot more to what the guy said. Sure Ford might be kind of PO'd off now GM is saying, look hoiw good we've done. The Ford family, Bill Senior and Jr, put most of their holdings, homes, estates and the plants up as collateral. There were a couple of generations of Fords with no backbone but sure sounds like Henry is back. Interesting reading of the Ford family, think it was Seniors grandmother who was the daughter of Harvy Firestone. Very interesting history.

Everyone should own a gm product....They all make good flower planters for a yard. And all gm engines make really good boat anchors. gm has always made junk and instead of fixing the problems with what they already make, they just design and throw together another piece of junk.
Like, GM is the enemy? What if Harbor Freight starts selling cars?
Oh, they are--Hyundai!
Oh no! There's another one!
Kia!
Make it stop!
Do you know that you can pay $50,000 for a friggen F150!
Hyundia, or Kung Fu or whatever will soon sell you the same truck. Except it will be orange and made by Chicago Cumbusto vehicle factory in whatthefukisit, province China.
Assholez. Get your shit together or go down the toobz. GM and Ford should be working together and not wasting energy beating on each other.
Besides that, two qualities of a boat anchor that makes it good is something that bites good and is easy to retrieve. An engine block weighing several hundred pounds does neither.
not sure if you have ever heard this word before...
