i did not buy my truck because of any fancy salesperson, i didn't buy it because people told me it was reliable, i didn't buy it because i saw commercials for it... i bought my truck because my buddy had an 05 sport? and i liked the look of it, but i always wanted the FX4 LII, with the alcoa rims, 2 tone paint, torsen, skid plates, nice interior, 4L... that's what sold me my truck, i had sales people trying to show me sport tracs (which if they had a sport trac fx4 LII i might look at) ones showing me f-150's and i told them to **** off, i hopped back in my 87 f-150 with like 300,000 on the clock and i drove off...

---- publicity, ---- advertisement, ---- sales people... build cars that people will see, test drive, and want to take home...

and ---- gm, they can't manage to do any of the above right

It is clear that Ford felt the heat in 08 but I bet GM did too.

I would be upset to see these companies start playing a game of semantics.

This is clearly an old article though because I think vehicles are starting to sell these days.

whats clear is nobody understands that ford merely got lucky...they were close to a bailout years before when the economy was crankin on cruise control and the unemployment was at record lows. THERE IS A REASON MULALLY IS THERE. and thats one reason the ranger is gone for a minute...





i have to say with the raptors looking like gm, as in it looks like ford was taking plays from the gm team on the rear frames from the stupid rate/bump stop type wrecking their frames on moderate stuff, gm and ram are going to tee off on these guys.

dude needs to be publicly humiliated by ford brass to keep his job or run the fawk off.

i love the rivalry, it promotes competition and better product in the general, but when some douche-bag from the times is sniffing around to write a book you need to cover your ass.


this last few years gm has indeed caught up to ford and has a stout hd product.....ford should be scared....

The Raptor is a conversation peice and nothing more. It is not a race ready truck, it is more race ready than the average truck but is not intended to be raced out of the box. They could can the whole thing and not loose a ton of sales because of it... and it would be stupid to design a truck that could take everything that for the few that people would buy. And because of the hype, people won't hold back like they might with a regular truck. The F-150 already has the strongest frame in the industry, so everybody else would have to catch them before they could exceed them. In most areas of the country there are not even places to do anything with with a Raptor anyway... like around here we have $5-10k/acre cropground broken up by gravel or paved roads in one mile squares.

And yes you can spend $50k for a F-150, you can also spend $20k... depends on what kind of an F-150 you want. $30-35k will catch a pretty decent middle of the road truck.

And while fine IMO for a candid conversation (since the guy still has his job it must of been ok), I don't think it should have gone outside that room.

I like my Hyundai. Gets 40 mpg on average.
