still wasn't the recall that killed anyone

Well, to be recant that quote you made...I remember back in the 70's a family was involved in an accident in Florida and the Pinto they were in was rear ended and the Pinto caught fire and two kids were burned to death. Later the recall came out and the grandfather of the kids go so upset when he learned of the recall he died from a heart attack. So maybe the recall did cause a death.

Didn't the Ranger 2.9 have an issue with the throttle sticking wide open? And then there's the lovely TFI module crapping out on you just as you pull into traffic. Is there a recall on those stupid ball-jointed Dana 60s?

All cars are rubbish. You just gotta pray that whatever bit craps out on you, you aren't killed by it.

I had a 1975 Gran Torino one time. I did get a notice in the mail about 'sudden acceleration'. Never gave it a second thought til 1983, the car burned rubber as I put it in drive (automatic). I had to mash the gas pedal literally as I was in a parking lot.
The previous owner mentioned about the Firestone 500 tyres & one of the sidewall bulged badly while driving-
