anyone have any tips on replacing the rack and pinion in a 99 ford Taurus? any online how to's or anything? as of right now best i can figure is unbolt the subframe and lower it out some so i can reach it..

Looks like that's what you are going to have to do. According to THIS. I guessed on what engine was in it, but I would think they are all the same. I'm trying to picture it and from what I can remember there wouldn't be another way. Can't get it from the top. Can't slide it out a side. and it sits on the sub frame, so yeah I think your gunna have to lower the sub frame.

the subframe does need to be lowered.

dont forget to support the engine and transmission from above while you loosen the subframe or else you'll be in for quite an unpleasent surprise (engine in your lap).
