So will the taurus 3.0 fit my 97 ranger? I am have some hard luck finding one out of a ranger so what outher fords will work with my ranger?

any domestic passenger car or 1/2-1 ton pick up/suv offering will work pretty good.:dunno::dunno:

The engine in the Taurus is indeed the SAME 3.0 in the Ranger.

If you're replacing the engine anyways, and want to keep it simple, upgrade to the 4.0, imo. Or step up a little more to a V8 conversion, but thats alot more effort/time/money.

are you asking if the 3.9 v8 will work etc?

no jus if any ford 3.0 will work.....there hard to come by around here and fount a taurus with one in it. So is the power the same and all in the taurus?

Basicly, yes. In fact I think alot of the parts like the intake (one part that is always fudging tranverse mount engines from being longitudinally mounted) are the same. My last Ranger was a 3.0, and there is a 3.0 Taurus sitting in my driveway, they visually look the same, sounded about the same given my truck was alot more ragged, blah blah blah.

Altho the SHO V6's are great for longitudinal swap because of the intake. Just feedin your brain with more info with this one.

i would use your induction/sensor package

Okey when you say sensor package what all do you mean by this?

all the electrical on your engine harness and the sensors attached to them...

and of course your front engine accessory setup

would there be any power loss from the taurus engine?

:icon_confused:

its a 3.0.....fawk yeah there is a powerloss from a 6.5....oh...

if its in better shape then yours i may feel stronger....

its the same for the most part, same cam in most years.

haha yes I know there not know to be a power house.. Was told that the cam's was not the same in any of them. and it being better than what I have. well I think a 5 horse briggs kart with a fat kid on it is faster than my truck atm.Bought it with a broken rod and all outher kinds of carnage.

The long blocks are interchangeable for any Vulcan 3.0. They also put DOHC duratec 3.0's and SHO 3.0's into the Taurus, which will not work, so make sure you're looking at the right engine. If you get a vulcan from a FWD car (taurus, topaz, sable, tempo, probe, etc), make sure you replace the head gaskets and lower intake manifolds with the ones from your ranger. Basically, you want to keep as much of your Ranger stuff as you can, and just switch out the longblocks.

SHO 3.0's into the Taurus, which will not work

Yes, actually, it will. There was even a prototype 80's SHO Ranger. It's more of a hassle than swapping in another Vulcan, but it would work.

Unless you were mentioning this to stave off confusion for the OP about the various 3.0's, in which case, my bad. :icon_thumby:
