Ford Taurus 3.0 same as ranger? Or what eles will work besides a ranger 3.0

I have done this swap...

things you need from your engine

upper and lower intake
timing cover
water pump
belt accessories w/ brackets
cam (truck cams has more torque at lower rpms)
motor mounts
valve covers
exhaust manafolds
oil pan

things you need to buy

complete gasket set (ranger) includes head gaskets
timing chain
main seals
oil pump

all your really using is the bottom end and heads.

do NOT use the probe motor it has solid lifters and cant be converted.

its all bolt up no mods needed.

also as a bonus if you find a flex fuel motor, use non flex fuel heads to bump up the compression for more power.

I have done this swap also.. I don't see the point in swapping the cam, because i can't tell the difference between my old 3.0 and the taurus one i have now. and you shouldn't even have to swap the oil pan unless its a 4wd truck, (the 4wd has a notch in the pan to clear the front end) and lets not forget to use the truck style head gaskets, because the water flow is different because the taurus configuration has the thermostat on the back side of the motor and such, and also , i remember swapping my flywheel over too, because it did look a lil different in comparison . other than that , a pretty straight forward swap.. and the taurus 3.0 cost me about 400 bucks less than a ranger one from the same junkyard

This guy is bang on with what i did...
I'm just finishing this swap, however, i'm doing a 94 3.0L (distibutor) My timing cover was identical to my trucks, the only differences i found was the distributor, head gaskets, motor mounts, oil pan (4x4), intake, crank pulley, and all attachments (power steerting/compressor, altinator) thats it... (o ya my truck is a standard) the valve covers were the same just on opposite sides (ie switch the left to the right and vice versa)

Cost me around 400 as well canadain!

I currently have a mercury sable 3.0 in my ranger :D. $200 100k
