Ford sending Ohio jobs to Mexico

Toyota did it too with the Tacomas that used to be built in Texas. Granted, to some that's easier to swallow since they aren't an "American" company.

If you know who was still in the White House, that would not be happening.

You are being partisan for the sake of being partisan, and you are full of crap. Trump didn't save American jobs. A president doesn't get to make decisions about where companies move to. That role is assigned to the legislative branch of government. Carrier didn't care what Trump thought about moving manufacturing to Mexico. They simply played a game with public-relations so they could move jobs to Mexico without looking like the bad guy. Moving jobs to other countries is influenced by trade agreements. NAFTA in this case. Now throw in labor cost comparisons, the bean-counters, and that Wall Street doesn't care about the well-being of Americans and you have an explanation as to why companies are moving manufacturing to Mexico.

The bottom line is these companies, and their Wall Street investors, don't care about Americans.

Guess I better sell my Ford stock before it takes a nosedive.

The United Auto Workers union has informed workers at the Avon Lake Ford plant that it plans to move a major project slated for 2023 from Northeast Ohio to its plant in Mexico. The letter, dated Friday, March 12, stated that Ford is going back on its agreement to build a "next-generation vehicle" at the Avon Lake plant in 2023.

I hate seeing american jobs being sent out to other countries.

That next generation vehicle I wonder was the Courier, or the Maverick maybe was slated to be built there, but I thought they were building those in Mexico anyways.

The tax reductions he put through for large compnies didn't help persuade the companies to stay? Lifting the restrictions on coal and oil didn't help with American jobs and help get rid of our dependence on outside sources for them? Getting rid of some of the harsh environmental restrictions didn't help some of the companies re-think their plans?

I didn't really like him personally, but liked some of the things he tried to do. He wasn't successful every time, but he did try. I am not sure what the end game is for the people that are in there now. They seem to want to tear the country down.

Obviously not.

Coal is going away. No jobs in the coal industry were saved under Trump. Companies still have to pay taxes on revenue even if the products were manufactured overseas. So no. No net benefit for the general American citizen there.

the most american vehicle manufacturer is tesla....time to go electric.

But the Ranger did score most american vehicle for 2020 so that's good.

What exactly does "Most American" mean? :dunno:

Why does the WH or the govt have to make it more lucrative to stay. Why can't Ford just stay in the US? Sometimes to be a better company you have to do what is RIGHT rather than what makes MONEY. Doing what is right will pay more money in the end than the fast buck in the front. I would much rather have a vehicle that I could drive for years to come than have to buy one every 5 years because it falls apart.

People just need to quit thinking its the governments responsibility to fix everything.

Sorry, I need to stop before I go off ranting about how worthless people/politicians are right now.

Right according to WHOM? If I'm a share holder, I want Ford to make decision that increase profits so that my shares increase in value.

For Mexicans, moving production from Ohio to Mexico means jobs in Mexico.

I totally agree with you. Ford is in business to make money PERIOD There is no question about that. But at some point the manufacturer has to realize that quality will drop either by products purchased elsewhere or by labor. Assembly is pretty much automated. So they want to save/make money by lowering labor costs. They saved money by building trucks with aluminum panels in them. But they are sacrificing the towing safety by making the trucks lighter. again just my $.02.
