Ford sending Ohio jobs to Mexico

I don't think it's "greed" to want to keep something you worked for and earned instead of having someone like Comrade Bernie take it and give it to someone who did not work for it. More/harder/smarter work should have higher pay. I had a tech who missed on average 1 day every 2 weeks so I told him he could have a 10% raise anytime he wanted. It had gotten to the point where customers would ask if he was there before dropping off their cars. He was all excited until I told him that he had to come to work every day to get the raise. Our environmental regulations and workers comp requirements, while very worth while, add to the cost of operating in this country. I suspect Mexico, and certainly China, have limited or no regulations along with much lower labor costs. I think import tariffs are a good idea that partially levels the playing field for domestic manufacturers. I hate to see any manufacturing moved out of the US but I suspect we'll see a lot more once they raise the corporate tax rate above the global average again. Raising corporate taxes will "help" bring jobs back to the US just like Obamacare taxing employers who provided comprehensive(so called Cadillac) health care to their employees "helped" with health car expense.

If you know who was still in the White House, that would not be happening.

I really don't think it matters who's in the WH. It just comes down to Ford wanting to make more money. Cheaper labor, cheaper product. Ford is just not caring about the customer anymore, just my $.02.

And yet, you all still own Fords....

Complain all you want but I don't see anyone lining up to crush their trucks in protest. You can blame the company, blame the president, blame mexico but at the end of the day if you want someone to blame, look in the mirror. You are the one supporting these businesses. (y)

As long as this is the American attitude, businesses will continue to be awful.

well all the fords (and everything else) Ive bought are used. ford could care less about the used market, the 1st time a ford sells is the only time they see any money (aside from parts and service work) crushing used vehicles only helps automakers, with the used market flooded theres less real need for new vehicles. If only we could grow a backbone and give the finger to all foreign countries, we really dont need any of them, we can be totally self-sufficient. its not like we live in the desert and need to import water to survive. We even have enough oil for ourselves, but like fools most of it is exported to china.

Ford wants to make money, not lose money, same as all of us, not about "more money" but thats always the goal for all of us

Yes, Socialism is not a viable economic system, but it is good and necessary for sub-systems in a capitalistic base economy
Social programs that provide assistance to people are "feel good" greed, also self preservation for "the rich and middle class"
If "the poor" have nothing to loose then you have REVOLUTION and alot more danger in general, so you pay them something, not a bribe or a "protection racket", but comes down to the same thing, you make it "worth their while" to not revolt.

In Communist economies/countries they don't do it that way, they use force and fear to prevent revolt, and it works for awhile but its not a long term solution

The only time tested version that works is greed, 3.5 billion years and still going strong

All three of my Fords were bought used. Last time I bought a new Ford was in 2000 when I bought my first Lightning. I'll never buy another new vehicle again.

Anyhow, who is going to build them in Mexico? Aren't they all at the border trying to get into the states? And there won't be any work for them because it's all in Mexico. LOL!!

You don't think if the president made it more lucrative to stay, that they wouldn't? Through the last few posts we have pretty much figured out it's about the money. If Ford can make the same or more money in Ohio, I am sure they would not move out.

Of course the unions may not be happy in the end. Part of the deal would probably be limited pay raises and retirement money. But some politicians are more beholding to the unions than other ones are.

Actually its the Central Americans that are trying to get into the US now, but I am sure still a few Mexicans

I agree, my past new vehicle purchases didn't "fit me" at all, did it twice
Had to take it to dealer and waste a day or two for any recalls or issues, would rather do it myself, but having a warranty was just to good to void it, my greedy/cheap side coming out
Used, no warranty just fits me better

As obvious as it seems to most of us, the wokesters absolutely reject this idea. In fact meritocracy is considered fundamentally racist. Because certain populations continually fail, their conclusion is that rewards should not be based on outcome.

And yet, you all still own Fords....
Most of our vehicles were used, but even selling the Fiesta ST we bought new in 2016 now would not help. I will never buy another product from Coke, or any corporation that has declared themselves to be an enemy of my family and my ancestors. I'm not sure that producing in another country falls to a low enough level to be worth boycott, but I would surely chose a competitive product made here.

A thought from someone who has done a lot overseas and has worked with governments here and there.

Its very very simple. We have created good laws and systems to fight corruption and equal the playing field HERE. But the second you send money overseas, it’s very hard to track and trace. The Paris air accords don’t do a thing to clean one molecule of air. It’s all “think tanks” to study the problem. Who’s friends do you think they are? If you generate and use oil and energy here, hard to skim. But if you’re responsible to order oil overseas, hard to track any kickbacks. Trump (with his family) was a self made man, and looked out for other honest folks (you and me).

The fence around the Capitol, the cries of racism, all the weirdos put in government positions? It’s all done on purpose to outrage the folks in the streets, to keep your eyes off of Pelosi and her cohorts, their $2T “Covid” Bill. It’s all to keep the focus off the overwhelming corruption.

We need to just cut to the chase and ask Hunter Biden how much he needs to fix this.....

Why does the WH or the govt have to make it more lucrative to stay. Why can't Ford just stay in the US? Sometimes to be a better company you have to do what is RIGHT rather than what makes MONEY. Doing what is right will pay more money in the end than the fast buck in the front. I would much rather have a vehicle that I could drive for years to come than have to buy one every 5 years because it falls apart.

People just need to quit thinking its the governments responsibility to fix everything.

Sorry, I need to stop before I go off ranting about how worthless people/politicians are right now.

Hunter can't fix anything, we need to find the ones that don't get caught, i.e. "we don't catch the smart ones", lol

Problem is, if they are that good then we can't find them, so can't use them

Orange man bad...... America Racist...... Do as your told, shut up racist, hands up or ill loot 🤷‍♂️ get what you get. When everyone is looking for a boogeyman.

If the CEO of Ford said we are going to do the right thing and stay in the US, even though we may not make as much money, he would be out on his ear in a heartbeat.

I have no room to talk though, I just bought a new 2100 2bbl from Amazon and it's a Chinese knock-off. Why? Because it was cheap. Someone has to step up to the plate, I don't know who though.

I listen to the farm report every morning before going to work. They are hoping things get back to normal with China so they can sell more farm goods to them. The farmers are also hoping things get back to normal at the border so they can hire the cheap labor to work in the fields.

I think everyone's hand is dirty in this somehow.

Yes, +1 ^^^

It's ALWAYS the "other guy" that needs to step up, lol

The old "do as I say, not as I do", talk is CHEAP, unless its with a lawyer :)
