I recently got rejected at MA state inspection station. I went to ford, paid 69.99 for diagnostic. They had absolutely no problem pulling codes or anything with their equipment. They said inspection station must be using wrong pin to connect, cause they had no problem. I went back to inspection station told the guy what ford said. Ge tells me it's the same equipment they use state wide, and nothing is wrong with his equipment. He also said I have to pay again and I'm like ok bye I'll go somewhere else.

I got approached by a recruiter for a base near Manchester nh, I may go reserves for the extra 280 a month. It was funny and the guy was right, I'm not the right skin color for this city. Nothing against anyone but this city is 90% Spanish, and over 50% of them hate white people.

Well my computer was read and only thing to fix is exhaust leak(new gasket between the flanges where passenger side cats start. Got fixed today. Engines sooo much quieter. Now to fix passenger tie rod, it's deffinately bent and allows too much play in wheel. Duralast tie rod is cheapest at autozone, 16.99 for outer and 25.99 inner. Just worried about the quality of those and if I should just go ahead and replace inner and outer on both sides. Then I need a new license plate light, as I have 2 but one is broken, which is a fail at inspection station. Stupid... Then I'll be good to pass inspection.

you know auto parts stores can usually pull codes for you as well.....for free. i had to do it all the time at autozone (it sucked)

i've toyed with the idea of joining the reserves. mainly b/c it would force me to do some kind of excercise and i could something for my country besides bitch and moan about everything. playing with guns is just an added bonus.

the duralast stuff isnt too bad. i have A LOT of it on my cars and my wifes car b/c i used to work there. just stay away from valucraft (more like valucrap). most of it has a lifetime warranty as well, just remember the phone number you give them so you can keep track of your warranty

I went store brand on my last set of tie rods on my Ranger 3 years ago, the boots are cracking already. The ORIGINAL boots just shriveled up, no cracks. Not overly happy about that debical, next time I will suck it up and get MOOG.

valucraft and duralast parts are the exact same ****ing thing, they just have a different warranty.

some of it is, but other stuff isnt. i cant tell you how many times someone brought back some valucraft stuff b/c it was making a noise or broke. they would exchange it for duralast and not have a problem. a lot of the valucraft stuff is remanufactured as well. but what would i know, i only worked there full time for 6 awful months

implying that you're the only one who's ever worked at autozone on this board.

I am less than 3,500 miles into my Duralast tie rods and my the boot is cracked on the passenger side. I'm buying Moog exclusively from now on.

I stay away from Duralast, Valucraft, pretty much anything where the name implies it will last a long time or is a good value. I find the higher the quality indicated solely by looking at the brand name, the crappier the part.

I stick with Napa premium brands, OEM, or Moog in no particular order. Depends on how much money I have and how available the parts are from those three guys.

Yea that jobber crap, duralast, valuecraft all that garbage is for getting something fixed and getting rid of it. Same thing applies to wheel bearings, especially the sealed ones with antilock sensors built it. If it yours, bit the bullet and by the premium stuff with something other than made it Taiwan or China printed on it. Sure you will save money on it up front but chances are it will bite you in the end. This is especially true for you boys who off road your machine. Had a buddy who had to keep replacing wheel bearings in a front wheel drive van. The only problem was the jobber bearings. Finally replaced with a Timken, never had another problem.

Had the same thing happen. The previous owner of my truck put the Chinese crap in it right before I bought it. Look at the chunks missing in the race:

dang - I bet you had a really smooth ride.:icon_surprised:
My only issue is that you have a brand like Timken, who's made excellent quality bearings forever. Then their board of directors decide they're not making enough profit for a quarter and outsource their parts to China. As a consumer, we get flushed. Grrr.

Whoa boys - sorry, no more thread jacking - today.

ya i have a duralast wheel bearing assembly for drivers side front. you guys make me worry haha. only got it cause it was middle cost from oem-valucrap.
Ya ill bite the bullet and get good brand. not gonna put my steering control in the hands of the chinese.
I joined the reserves in NH lol. I feel weird cause me and my buddies always called any unit below 82nd pogues. guess that makes me a hypocrite. on the basis of who id want to go to war with, itd be 3rd brigade 82nd. but these guys ae helping me get in touch with some employers, so thats a plus. And ill get to burn up 36 days before end of their fiscal year so i can earn some extra money...
ANYWAYS!!!
Ive heard good and bad about moog. then again ive heard good and bad about ford rangers and mine runs like a champ with 211k miles. Moog or OEM it is.
Do you guys think i should replace inner tie rod since ill be doing outer or go with the "if it aint broke dont fix it" scheme? Thanks. this topic kinda blew up quickly lol. more about argueing over duralast and valuecrap but whatever.

I bought a Timken (sealed) bearing for my Escape a couple of months ago. When I opened the box, I saw the bearing said SKF - Spain on it. We use SKF all the time at work with no issues so I'm alright with it. Then I noticed back of the box, said:

Distributed by The Timken Company. Timken Service Parts are carefully chosen from select manufacturers.

If a company outsources, I'm fine with it if it's a decent brand and not Made in China. I deal with German and Swiss made parts daily and find them to be excellent quality.
