What the end of the Ford Ranger says about working in America

Ford let the ranger get stale... which kind of fueled its demise. Its higher sticker price didn't help much either, it was priced in F150 territory.

Not going to argue that point at all. Next truck will most likely be a diesel anyway for my long haul towing. My Ranger/F150 bastardization will be plenty for towing my Heep around to local trails for now.

Another rant on ford... shelving the 4.4 liter powerstroke!!! Toyota, Ford AND GM went away with their half ton diesels that were in development. However, a Suburban at SEMA was spotted with a 4.5 liter duramax :D

Rangers around here outlast and out number chevy s-10s... Honestly Favortism aside i live in Pa and ford rangers outnumber any other mini truck 2.73-1 State Statistic as of 2-01-12... Just wanted to put that into this discussion

First of all, just wanted to say that Ford made a huge mistake (well actually has been making that mistake for years until it now came to the consequences) There are alot of Ford Rangers where I am, although they are all about 2000 or older because Ford expected to sell the same truck for 10 years:icon_twisted:. If they would have updated the Ranger or even attempted like changing body style it would have sold better DUH!:annoyed: People have been talking about the F150 getting better gas mileage than the Ranger. Well maybe its due to the fact that the Ranger engine is outdated. Like some have said if they put some form of ecoboost with less C.I. Those trucks would probably get 25mpg easy. Or at least put an option for an efficient deisel like in the global Rangers. The new F150, even the smallest package with the smallest engine doesnt even come close to what an up to date Ranger with more current technology and body restyle would be.(at least IMO) They say it will compete with the F150 too much. If they offered a standard Ranger with a lower sticker price that would sway people who dont need the bigger truck or towing capacity, (who also cant afford the higher priced F150) toward the Ranger. Then they offer more options to make the Ranger both affordable AND appealing I think it would sell really well. It just seemed like Ford didnt even attempt or care to save the Ranger and opened up the Foreign compact truck market in North America. Like thats all we need, more people buying foreign instead of buying domestic and supporting OUR economy. I love ya Ford but this one was a big deal for me:flipoff:. At least the Ranger will live on through people like us and maybe on day we can convince Ford to realize their huge mistake.
(Sorry for the super long rant thats been on my mind for awile now and needed to let it out:D)
