FORD`s super secret Megazilla V8

Ill bet the GM beats it for torque though. Which is what matters

Yup, nothing worse than going to pass a Prius when you are pulling your skiboat with your Mustang and not having enough torques to get it done.

Mustang 420lb ft @ 4600
Camaro 450lb ft @ 4400

Coming back from Georgia there was a guy in a brand new Ford F450 towing a 41 foot regulator down 95. There was no way that truck was legal to tow that boat. I'm wondering if it had the 7.3 gasser in it. He was cruising along doing 75 until the slightest incline and then it was like he hit a wall. He gave it all it had but that thing would bog down to about 35-40mph. He was really pissing people off. :icon_rofl:

Not to mention that boat was wider than a single lane and he was having one hell of a time trying to keep that thing straight.

Those cars are built for straight line 1/4 mi drags. Gurantee that 30ftlb advantage makes the camaro launch considerably harder.

Was it on a goose neck?

Dry weight for that boat is 24,000lbs, so probably closer to 30,000 w/ trailer, water, gas, ect ect. Towing cap for f450 with ball and tongue is 24,000lbs. 37,000lbs with a gooseneck.

OHC's need to spin to make power. Pushrod engines make more power down low.
Here is a graph you might be familiar with that doesn't quite agree with your statement. The only place the 4.0 OHV makes more torque than the 4.0 SOHC is below 1600 rpm and it is only about 5 ft-lbs. I am guessing that could be equalized but it would probably sacrifice some of the top end power. Yes, OHC engines can spin to make more power but they don't need to unless the manufacturer designs them that way.

It was either on a gooseneck or fifth wheel. Those quad 450hp engines aren't light, I wonder if that weight includes engines.

I doubt it makes a bit of difference. They have been virtually neck and neck with quarter mile times since the Camaro came back out (GT vs SS)

Whats the 60ft times though?

Thats what im saying ill bet the camaro "feels" more fun.

Some idiots set the cruise and let the truck deal with it too... which doesn't work great with heavy towing.

Or it could be a V10

Pretty much same-same. It very much comes down to the driver.

The 1LE wins the 0-60 sprint, doing so in 4.1 seconds versus the Mustang GT's 4.4 seconds. By the end of the quarter mile, the Camaro is still in the lead but not by much: 12.5 seconds at 115.2 mph for the Chevy versus the Mustang's 12.6 seconds at 115.1 mph.
