i have a 1990 ford ranger with a 302 and a fuel pump in tank with a fuel pressure regulator before the carb and the fuel pump wont shut off when i have it hooked up.any one else had this problem?

Now does it run constantly, constantly KOEO, or constantly KOER?

If it just runs all the time there is a wire shorted to power or ground somewhere.

If it runs all the time with the key on and engine off it was rewired by an idiot. Have fun.

If it runs constantly with the engine on, that is normal operation for the fuel system in it's stock form. I'm not sure how yours is wired up though. Factory it would have been run by the computer off a signal from the distributor, since you say you have a carb who knows what was done.

it runs with the key off or on....now i have to wire a switch to it possibly because of the dumbass who wired it

Properly done you should be using a relay triggered by key on unless there was an attempt to use the stock wiring with the cutoff switch...botched in any case....:icon_thumby:
