My wife and I were driving down the road in our new 2019 Ranger.

I kept whispering. My wife asked why? I told her I didn't want Ford Pass to hear me.

She thought that was funny. She laughed, I laughed, Ford Pass laughed. :shok:

What's ford pass? :dunno:

It’s an app for cell phones. It can be used to start the vehicle, lock or unlock doors, check tire pressure, show location, and other things. Basically, it shows that you can’t hid it behind grandma’s garage anymore if one stops making payments.

Like Fords Alexa?

Yesterday I was driving with my sister and her old preacher pulled in front of us so she starts talking about how he is a sexist pig. Next thing we know the car says "sending message to preacher mitch lisle" and it tried to text him everything she just said about him. Luckily she was able to hit the cancel button half a second before it sent. :icon_rofl:

What's really scary is when vehicles start to talk among themselves, and realize that they do not need us...at all...for anything!!!
Beginning of "Terminator"....could be.
Grumpaw

Some are more interactive than others. The one in mine, without the touch screen, doesn’t have the Alexa ability and some of the other features that the touch screen models do.

Alexa and the other systems like it, might as well be called wire tap.

Yep, Skynet started with a Ford. They truly are pioneers in technology...;)

Not sure you should be so confident about that. If you have activated the modem in your truck by signing up for and using the Ford Pass app then your 2019 Ranger is indeed recording and submitting to Ford where you are driving and how you are driving. And they can download new software changes / updates / modifications into your truck. By signing onto the Ford Pass App you have given Ford permission to do all of that. It is in the fine print of the contract.

We haven't activated the modem on our truck, nor do we intend to.

It's an invasion of privacy as I see it.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they track you even if you don’t activate the modem.

Especially if they are looking to repossess it due to lack of payment.

They gave me 40,000 points to get me to sign up.--then I read all that "fine print"!!! I won't sign up for any of it. Will never activate any systems having to do with a cell phone!--Heck, come to think of it, I don't even own a cell phone.:)

I wouldn't be surprised either but my understanding is there is no way for the system in the truck to send the data... except through your smart phone. But then again I'm betting every vehicle that gets serviced at a Ford Dealership... that they download the data and send it to Ford.

I was going to say since we paid cash for our truck that it being repossessed wasn't a concern. But the way the country is today, one never knows. Manifest Destiny

I called Fords National Customer Service Department... no way to activate the 40,000 points without a smart phone. That's what got me to wondering what was up... and lead me to read the fine print.

I agree with your point, the 40,000 points isn't worth the baggage that is attached to it.

Points for what? :icon_confused:

Ya, I saw that as well, and just never figured out how to pull it off, on the old rotary!:ROFLMAO:
