The first thing to keep in mind is that the mirrors have a base that is more narrow than the factory Ranger mirrors. So you will have to fill in at least one hole. And drill 2 new holes. I used the mirror gasket for a template. Don't forget that the new mirrors are much heavier than the flag style so you will need extra support for them. Thick sheet metal will work, using the mirror gasket again for a template, cut a pattern 3/4" to 1" larger than the gasket. Using the support brace from a Ranger with the (western style) mirrors would work great as well. Bolt it all up and move over to the wiring. It is easier if you have several different colors. Choose your switch location, door ,dash, console, etc. I ran my wires through the grommet in the door and pulled my fenders off to run the wires through a hole in the inner fender. there is a grommet in the fire wall that can be used to access the cab. And remember to follow your wires exactly. All the wiring has to be complete or the mirrors will not work. Choose a power source. I used a fuse tap that can be found at any parts store. Switches in '80s type Fords can be a little hit or miss I chose a window switch from a mid 90's Taurus, after 2 Escort switches would not work. Most Ford power mirrors through the '80-'90s used the same colors to the mirrors. Don't forget to make sure the wires in the door are ran so that they will not interfere with the door operation. And do not power anything up till your ready to test everything, unless you like to blow fuses. The switch reverses polarity as your using it. I'm new to posting pics so i will do my best. Also remember to put split loom on all the wires to protect the new wiring.1-2 hours of work and a great result.
