Force the Bubble to POP!

Does it frighten anyone that just 2.5% of our daily oil consumption is five hundred and twenty five THOUSAND barrels?

Frighten or surprise?

I guess I was a little shocked but not frightened. You must remember that only a fraction of that is burned in the car you drive. They make millions of products from oil.

And it rises again despite news of supplies up, Bush states no shortage, but since Iran Farted it simply must start to climb again. Man I tell you reading all this BS is really starting to Piss me OFF!

FWIW same old (BS) story... Supplies up, Demand Down, so we have to go searching for who farted to use as an excuse to scare people into investing and crank up the price of oil.

Did you know the oil market used to be regulated by the government? Yes it's true the price was regulated by our government to avoid this kind of economic crisis back before the 70's crisis.

Huh.... Thats pretty crazy stuff. All I can say is thank God I stuck with droppin a 4.0L in the b2 instead of a 5.0L :) I am majoring in Mechanical Engineering and minoring in Physics. For my final semester exam I am goin to build a car that has been on my mind since I got my license. Its a 600CC turbo charged CBR engine on a VERY light and aerodynamic jet cockpit style body. From all my previous tests and calculations 0-60 should be close to 3.5-4 second while getting an average of 68-70MPG on the highway and 40 in the city. Its all still in the design stages but once it is finished it will be my daily driver. I'm just worried about getting it licensed.....

How do you turbo charge an engine and get better mileage out of it? I had a cbr600 F4i and a CBR600RR. Neither got more than 50 or so MPG on the highway.

No no no lol you dont get more mileage from a turbo. The turbo is for fun and a crap ton more power out of the small four cylinder. When I want to get crappy mileage:tease:.It is pretty much free power... It's all in the gearing and aerodynamics that make it get better mileage. when my b2 cruises down the highway at 75. I can feel everything the air is doing. The "tear drop" design is one of the most aerodynamic shapes. What im trying to design is a car that will barely disturb the air flow while providing the downforce to keep it from flying. At 75 miles an hour in the prototype you literally wouldn't have to use the gas pedal

Friction is also a big enemy of mileage. So anything and everything to lose friction forces will help it also

Whats cool also is that if it is designed right, you shouldn't hear any wind noise. Just the engine go by and the sound of the tires on the road. My professor and I had a blast on the conversation :)

But whichever one was turboed had the same power as a bigger N/A engine. They get the same power as the bigger engine, with the economy of the smaller one.

That is good to know, my Ranger must be pretty sleek because all I hear is the tires. :icon_rofl:

Kool project Nate!

Apparently people are getting wise to the BS news excuses to raise the oil price since it is now down another 50 cents from yesterday. :thumby:

i have been fighting the man by riding my bicycle to work.:icon_thumby: it is a 7 mile ride one way but its mostly 55mph roads with fields and good scenery along the way so i dont mind too much. it takes me 30-40 minutes depending on the weather and my pace, but at 55-60 mph in my ranger i still only make it there in 10-15 min. its also good excercise and i can make a tank of gas in my ranger last 2 weeks instead of 1. hopefully things will turn around soon before we all have to fight to the death to survive.:fie:

Great news FORD! Man if I thought I could ride a bike 22.5 miles to my work I would but on the flip side I only fill up every 2 weeks as well and thats only at most 10 gallons. Yep I don't drive much outside of going back and forth to work and the Hyundia yields about 35 mpg no matter how I drive it. I hate the car and would love to be back on the road with my V8 Ranger on 38's but not till I can afford to unfortunately. I drive it and the Bronco II about twice a week just to keep them from sitting and decomposing.

I would agree that it is opinion but it is one based on fact.

ya know brian i think i picked the wrong summer to get a job 25 miles away from home.... it was nice when i boycotted gas for MOST of my work trips all last summer. i clocked and easy 800-1000 miles between work and recreational use on my bicycle. i still try to do some recreational rides but i dont have the time to ride the bike and not drive. but let me tell ya that cavalier i have abused since high school that still gets 30+ mpg is great. shure beats the b2s abused 190k motor thats dieing slowly and painfully with every wheeling trip it takes....
