anyone got any input on these cuz i like loud and i wanna change it up from wat i got and i gotta feelin they gonna be loud and deep but i want sumone elses thoughts :icon_twisted:

These 4.0's and 3.0's sound pretty bad (in a bad way) with aftermarket exhausts thrown on them. The worst things you can do to them is throw a glasspack on them or straight pipe it.

All it is, is just cards in the spokes of your huffy. Sounds cool to the guy riding the bike, but others point and laugh.

it is entirely possible to make your 4.0 sound good. ill agree though, glasspacks or straight pipes sound terrible on these trucks. heres a few examples...

i bought a thrush turbo, it actually doesnt sound bad.... sounds real good from idle to about 2500rpm. not too loud and only $20! of course mine is a 3.0L not a 4.0.... but still a good deal.

ive already got loud and i like loud i mean hell i got true dual flowmaster super 40s with no cats but im tired of the high pitched dirt bike sound so im goin back to single in dual out but i was just seein wat yall think bout a flowmaster 10.....

i had a flowmaster 10 on my 2000 ext cab ranger. it had a 3.0 with a 5spd. i ran 2 1/2 pipe from the y pipe back, no cat, into the 10 series dumped under the bed. that truck was loud, sounded pretty good in to me at idle but a little too raspy at w.o.t.

whats the engine and muffler from that black ranger? and i was lookin at the 10's or my 78' with a 400m because my thrush welded isnt loud enough its quiet but has a rumble

I disagree on a stock 4.0 or 3.0 a glasspack, or strait pipe sounds like shit. But on a modded 4.0 or 3.0 cam, ported etc they can sound great. It all depends on the exhaust setup. I have ported heads, ported upper, and lower intake, and a mild delta cam. Because I am running the stock cats, not very loud at all. It can get a little buzzy at high Rpm. So in the end on a stock 4.0 or 3.0 hell no on a correctly modded yes

super 44's sound good on 4.0's (as good as a 4.0 could ever sound haahahaha)

i highly disagree, i have had 1 of everything on my truck searching for good sound and the super 44 was by far the worst sounding on my 2002 4.0 sohc.

i have a 10 series now straight out no dump and thats the most sound ive gotten out of it.

14" glasspack had good tone but not loud

40 series good tone a little louder

10 series exiting right in front of the tire - shitty sound

straight out of the muffler - sounds amazing

it's not always about the most sound, but the highest quality sound

(to the OP) Besides, these sorts of questions require heavily biased answers, so the best idea is to try different mufflers until your find the setup that YOU like, not what other people think sounds good.

Btw, super 44 on my 03 sohc was real deep, no rasp at all :D
