I have been chasing a stalling issue with my 87 2.9 and read a thread some where that suggested to unplug the map sensor for the symptoms i have.

So with the map unplugged it will run and drive but misses like it is flooding , i have attached pics of the spark plugs all drivers side (1st picture) are carbon covered and all passenger side are clean(2nd picture) , So i now think i have a wiring issue to the driver side injector bank like a grounded wire for the ground for that bank causing constant fuel flow from those three injectors or the ecc is not switching the ground for that bank.just not sure how to proceed from here to test .

Ps i hooked up a vacuum gauge and with idling it stays in the green normal motor but fluctuates some, i assume the miss is caused by the carbon spark plugs.

Did you check the FPR vaccum line for fuel? 2.9s are known to eat pressure regulators.

+1 ^^^

On the engine there are TWO fuel lines
IN from the fuel pump
OUT to gas tank

The Fuel Pressure Regulator(FPR) is connected to the OUT, the return fuel line
So follow the two fuel lines that come up on drivers side of engine bay
One goes to the fuel rail, the other goes to the FPR
On the FPR is a Vacuum hose, if FPR leaks then vacuum sucks raw fuel into the engine, i.e. Rich Running
So remove vacuum line and check for gasoline, replace FPR is found

On a V6 engine running Batch Fire injection only 2 of the injectors would share a ground.
All 6 will have Red wire for 12v, then 2 on each side will share common color ground wire, with 1 on the other side.

Could be a bad injector on drivers side.
Whole bank would be effected.
When engine is cold, disconnect Coil from distributor so a No Start
This is AFTER CHECKING FPR!!! vacuum hose

Cycle key on and off 3 times, builds up fuel pressure
Press gas pedal down to the floor and hold it down all the way, this turns OFF fuel injectors
Crank engine over a few times.
Now pull the 3 spark plugs on drivers side
If there is a leaking injector one spark plug tip will be very WET, the other 2 dry, or drier, because some gasoline will be sucked in, which is why whole bank shows Rich running.

Thank you very much ill do that next.
