My fuel gauge never worked and Well over a month ago I noticed my car would die if I turned my headlights or AC on (not that I've managed to fix that... yet) and since I'm cheap I looked for every free DIY option available. I figured it wasnt a bad alternator because if it was, my 6 month old battery wouldve been super dead in a couple of days with how much I drive. Anyways, after my whole evap system fiasco, I concluded that there was something wonky in the circuit from battery to alternator. I'm no mechanic, this was just my hunch. I look at all the wires, grounds, cables etc that I can see and they all looked fine. Before I got to cleaning connections and pins I looked at the fuse box and looked up the fuses associated with the alternator. I think it was pin 17 if I'm not mistaken. It looked fine but I changed it, it was a 15. I started the truck up and turned everything on.. EUREKA!!! Problem gone!
For the fuel gauge, I went under my truck after work after seeing the gas prices and remember someone telling me it was a loose ground. Again, I'm cheap and hope it's just something I can see. To my surprise, it was just a connector barely hanging on to the port. I sorely missed knowing how much I gas I have in a 4banger

Hope this helps someone, thanks guys for all your tech info!
