firing order

Ok, Im confused. I tried to use the stock 302 firing order during my first start on a 5.0 H.O. and I actually GOT IT RUNNING. But it was stalling when I went into gear and back firing when I would initially give it gas. Then while I was watching some youtube videos I learned that H.O. motors have the same firing order as the 351W. At which point I got extremely excited and at 12:00 am woke up all my neighbors Im sure, trying to start my newly wired motor. I had even less luck with the correct firing order? First off Im pretty shocked it was able to run on an entirely wrong firing order. Any comments or suggestions? Im thoroughly confused...

Did some more reading and I may have had the firing order wrong still. I do have the correct firing order but I just read that it goes counter clockwise. So I rewired it with the H.O firing order counter clockwise. I believe I have it correct now but It's 1 am and I can't go disturb the peace twice in one night. I will be up bright and early though causing some ruckus and will post the results then...

I was right. went out bright and early lighting up the pavement... WOOHOOO!!!!!!
