dammit...lol....i will check the plugs maybe tomorrow. would there be tell-tale signs of headgasket issues if my plugs are weird?

if your plugs are white and flakey. then you ar running retarded lean and overheating. your af ratio may be outta wack. too lean will overheat your engine. when you shift from 1st to 2nd early, around 2000 rpms, and gun it, does it ping a lot?

there is absolutely no ping, the plugs look great. I am running premuim fuel; would that have an adverse effect? It never harmed it before (i have been running premium for almost 8 months now)...

i ran premium in my truck, my opinion its a waste. but it wont make it overheat. im leaning towards a headgasket on this one. unlees a port on your water pump is clogged, have you ever replaced the pump? if you did did you silicone the gasket on? if so, the silicone may have goobered up one of the outlets on the pump. btw how are you adding coolant? engine running with heat on full blast? or engine off? just clues to the puzzle

when the truck is on the high side of warm shut it off, check the fan to see if it spins freely . if it does the fan clutch is shot and needs replaced.

i have added coolant both ways...didn't know it mattered. I topped it up while running, took it for a drive, shut it off, then topped up what was remaining...the heat was on full blast, yes.

it doesn't spin very easy...i will double check it when i drive it next. The strange thing is the past 3-4 times i have driven it, it sits in the normal area....weird :dunno:

hey man thats awesome. my ranger took a shizdit on me. 350 time.

When you're removing the cap, how warm is the engine? It's not recommended when the engine is warm as coolant typically comes spraying out all over the place. If the system is not pressurizing, then there is a leak somewhere. Are you experienceing any coolant loss?

Pete

no leaks; the coolant system is cool when i open the rad cap. I have opened it warm and there is plenty of pressure. Its great that way...

putting this to rest now...went to oakville, then to vaughan and back how (about 5 hours total) and the truck never acted up once, even when it was seeing 5,500 RPM on the 401 HWY. I have sold the ranger :bawling: to a friend to pay off debt ($3700 i got for it :yahoo:) and now i can save up for a new ranger, DEBT FREE!!!

Thanks for the suggestions guys... :icon_cheers:

awesome dude, sorry to hear about your "loss" but hey, theres rangers as far as the eye can see, ill keep a look out for ya. dave

haha ya, but changing the page is usually a good thing too. Besides, i'm kinda excited about getting a newer truck! thanks again :headbang:
