fender cuting

They look great don't get me wrong but damn,I was very disappointed.

i cut my fenders with a jigsaw and folded a new lip with pliers and a hammer with a rag wrapped around it. if you take your time, it can turn out well.

as an added bonus, you can get cheap universal rubber flairs that screw onto the lip (you can also get them for regular cut fenders, but i like having the "stockish" look personally)

check out my build thread for pics. i cut the front fenders, but not the rear (yet). oh yeah, i'm in arkansas so i don't have any fender laws.

*edit*
just noticed my build thread doesn't have that great of pics of the fenders. here are a few 'in progress" pics

thats exactly what i want to do how hard is that and do i need to take the fenders off the truck

yeah, its a lot easier if you take the fenders off.

pick a line, mark it, and cut. i used a jigsaw with a really fine tooth metal blade. go slow.

then i started the fold with a pair of pliers. bend a little at a time, and go all the way around.

in a few places you may have to cut a "relief" into the folded metal so the fender will not warp.

this is where i had to do mine

after that i just bent the lip more and more with the pliers and hammer. little bit at a time, and not very much force.

thanks man that works good i just got my 6 inch lift on over the weekend and i want to fit 36/12.5/15 super swampers under it because i can get a set for 400 with 70% tread

you should be able to make that combo fit with the right amount of cutting. if it starts looking like you are going to need to cut off more than you want to, you can get a set of 1" body lift pucks for cheap from performance accessories.

ok that works i kinda wanted to put a 3 inch body lift on it to but all i have on it right now is 31s and i have to get it alined still im afrade it will be to top hevy as it is right now

6" suspension and 3" body is way too high for most situations, in my opinion (keep in mind, my opinion and $0.50 will only get you a cold cup of coffee :D )

with that much lift AND cut fenders, you will be able to fit tires that are too large for stock axles to even handle.

what size/backspacing of rims are you going to run? 15x8 with 3.75-4" of BS will probably result in a minimal amount of cutting.

dont forget you can adjust the length of your bumpstops to help keep the tire away from the fenders.

oh yeah, how about some pics of your truck? :icon_thumby:

ok thats what i thought i want to go as wide as i can with the tiers i would like some 35/16.5/15 or some 36/15/15 somewhere around there all i have right now is stock rims but im workin on gettin some wider better lookin rims i will be workin on the pics tonight i dont have my truck right now because it is at the alinement shop

how do u put pics on i just started here at trs
