Farm and Garden

Picked up a 19992(?) wheelhorse 520h yeaterday. $300, non-running at the moment, no spark, tank full of varnish, fuel lines turn to dust when touched. Need a muffler, has been previously removed. Cummins/Onan sells one for just around a thousand bux. Anybody got one laying around? Always loved wheelhorses, my grandfather had a 312-8 with lots of attachments. My father has it now, less the attachments, they went to my uncle. I also have c-85 in pretty rough shape. Post some pics later

Couldn’t you get yourself a glass pack and weld a flapper on it? It seems that’s pretty much all those tractor mufflers are anyway.

I could, wheelhorses are with good money, trying to treat it as in investment and keep it original

Got the Garden planted. Gonna be a bit crowded this year... 3 tomato plants, 2 zucchini and 2 squash plants and one pepper plant and a few left over strawberry plants that i probably should have just yanked when i tilled and prepped the garden. All of this in a 4x8 foot garden. Plus a couple lettuce plants in pots.

what size shoes are you hoping for with the 2 seeds planted ? :ROFLMAO:

I got my garden in...

I wanted to try my hand with some root vegetables this year. Reason being they store well without a bunch of effort... and we like them. I got potatoes... beets... parsnips... turnips... carrots and rutabaga. I also have tomatoes... peppers... cukes... zucchini... Walla walla onions... scallions and cantaloupe. I haven't done any herbs yet... they're crazy expensive this year. I have some seeds and will probably plant some of those in my grow bags this weekend.

Now we wait...

Something got into our bucket plants last night on the back porch, my guess is a raccoon. I may not be able to rectify the situation, but I can electrify it!

No pictures but I spent most of yesterday stacking firewood then mowing. The load of firewood I got for cheap was mostly oak but there was a lot that was short or odd shaped so put that in a fruit crate (the wood boxes they ship fruit/nuts in from the field to packing facility) and conveniently the 3pt on the tractor even lifted it! I was wondering as it looked heavy... going to just set that next to the porch this winter instead of trying to do anything fancy... After moving that I switched to the brush hog on the tractor and mowed the back part of the property for the first time of the year, no gophers still! There was only the one, the ~20 I got last year must have put a serious dent in the population...

That looks like a bunch of tomatoes and peppers...

You doing salad greens in those nice neat rows?

Yep, a lotta tomatoes and peppers. Little rows in front are carrots and radishes. In the back, pole beans will go up the short fence section, and then a couple of cucumber plants to go up the power pole. Some more shade flowers all the way in the back on the big bed.

The smaller round bed is squash.

It's good therapy.

I like it... I saw the fence in the back and figured green beans.

It is therapy... I just don't see me not doing it until I can't.

Thanks. This year I finally have the time (I retired in February), but I still want to keep it compact, just more focused on working it the whole season. I'm intrigued by the grow bags, that I think you've used, but I'll stick with beds for now.
