2008 Ranger // upgrading to 2010 rear axle/disc // master cyl available
Drum has single brake line
Disc Has Two
Where to Add a "T"
Flex lines from wheel to top of differential in place
Run single bigger diameter line to rear??
2010 master cyl
Has larger braided line // Run with 2008 ABS
T after abs unit. ??
Bypass abs for rear. ??

Your 08 likely doesn't have stability/traction control. I would make the 2010 rear-end mimic your 08 configured axle brake hydraulics. Then see how it preforms. My guess is you'll be OK.

FYI... I'm also moving this to the brakes forum.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this seems sort of ill-advised. Besides the bespoke axle shafts that aren't compatible with other 8.8s, you'd have to ditch RABS entirely, right?

'08's 3-way-ABS computers won't talk to the 4-way-ABS individual rear wheel speed sensors, and the '10 axle won't have the 3-way-ABS carrier tone ring, right?

I believe you are correct which translates to the speedometer not working as well...

You're right... I let that roll out before I thought it through completely. The wheel speed signals are definitely generated differently.

The tone rings are no the axle shafts instead of in the differential. So, while not impossible to get the system to work, it won't be plug and play and may take some creative wiring to get the system to work. Rear disc brakes are over rated in my opinion anyway. Having two trucks with rear disc brakes, I would rather have rear drums. They require more preventative maintenance to keep them working properly, wear out faster, and don't perform any better from what I can see.

I am fine with drums out back.

Shoot, i was fine with drums all the way around back in the day

It will come down to: Does the differential housing still have the hole for the differential sensor; does the differential still have the tone right.

If the differential does - then it can be treated like a pre-'09 axle (the sensors at wheel end just won't be connected).

If the differential doesn't - OP will need to decide if he wants to drill the differential housing to install central sensor/pull differential to install tone ring.

Picture of top of the differential pumpkin would be work 1k words.

We've got a page for that.

It doesn't show inside the differential. Provisions for the sensor are not there, so the tone ring probably isn't there either.
