F*cking car hoppers

You don't deal with lojack. When turned on it allows the car to be found. I have never seen evidence of being it defeated firsthand. It is easier to rollback a car, but it is rare that thieves will do so. The longer it takes to get your car, and the more noise that is made in the process, the less likely it is to be stolen. Same deal with stealing things inside a car. If I was to steal something inside a car, I would want to be quick and quiet. I wouldn't want to be seen or heard, and that is pretty difficult with an alarm going off.

Honda Pros?:icon_confused:

^^what he said. Alarms deter scum...they work. I have lojack in 2 of our rides. I have had friends who told me that they had a car stolen at local park one day. They got back to their car after an hour walk and the car was gone. They called the cops and they told the cops they had lojack and the car was found with the 'scum of the earth low lives' joy riding at a local mall. It was found right at an hour after they reported it stolen. That was good to hear. I just think an alarm system is a good thing. I just fell better having one. If somebody pulls on a door handle the alarm goes off. If somebody pushes hard on the car the alarm goes off. Smash a window the alarm goe off.

whats an alarm going to do? even if you have a 2way pager alarm do you think it would it work in your shop building, in the mall, in the movie theater?

The pagers work a lot better than you are giving them credit for. A couple guys at work have them, and they work inside the metal siding building with several machines, fluorescent lights, and even machines using radio frequency.

You're right, a good thief will get what he wants no matter what. But you can deter a good portion of thieves by having an alarm to cause a ruckus. Like I said earlier in the thread, I went from buying a new stereo, new dash pieces, and new window to just buying a new window because of my alarm.

I also think that no matter where you go, the thieves are going to find you. No sense in moving somewhere else because someone got your stereo.

Back in the 90's, people from the Metro area (NYC & outer boroughs) used to put up a note " No Radio" to deter theft-

Yes... be courteous to the thieves...

NO RADIO note.. nah..

How about

"Nothing in here is worth your (worthless) life."
or
"Don't go getting yourself killed trying to break in here."
or
"My rattle snake(s) like to have visitors... introduce yourself."

I look at it this way, I don't live in a "scummy" area nor do I leave my truck or my fiance's in "scummy" areas. Being in a technical college parkinglot when quite a few classes are getting out an alarm woulda made the difference as soon as they slim-jim'd the door open. Same thing with when my tools got stolen a few months ago, even though it was the truck box they broke into having the motion sensor would have made it go off. I just really REALLY wish I woulda come out when they were still there cause I would have seriously beaten the hell out of them, then called the police with my knee on the back of their head, face in the the asphalt, claiming it was self defense

We got no trunk in our trucks, bro....maybe a bed monkey?....lol

Right turn Clyde...

Knocking on wood the rusty beat down 30 year old truck look has been serving me well implying that there is nothing worth messing with in the truck let alone stealing the truck itself.

I know kids in college used to have contests who could set off the most car alarms with their exhausts in the parking lot, so it can give enjoyment to others as well. :icon_idea:

@Twister, how's that alarm worked for ya? I mean, has anyone messed with your rig or has it been a good deterant?

It seems to work good, i haven't had anyone mess with my car at all so i cant tell. But what i i think deters people is the blinking led they come with, mine came with a red one and the viper my brother has comes with a blue one. The blue one can be see from the down the street. They light up when the alarm is armed.
