F*cking car hoppers

After I had the alarm installed on my Mustang I called the insurance company and they laughed. Discount nobody is going to steal your car. To make matters worse the alarm would go off every 15 minutes and nobody called the cops. I have a Viper and they were very responsive when I called about the alarm going off. They faxed me the fix and I took it over to the installer.

When i was in school we had some kids break into somebodys truck and steal the radio, then they loosened all the lug nuts on one tire (It came off at 35mph and destroyed the bedside since it was a fibreglass stepside.) Then they had the balls to install the radio in their car in the school parking lot the next day. I wish we could still hang thieves.

Yeah I go to BTC, I had to park in the newer "upper parking" that does NOT have cameras yet. The amp was completely under the drivers seat, the sub was (and has been for a while) under a horse saddle pad. They popped (breaking the plastic tabs) the center plastic out then proceeded to unscrew all 6 screws and unclip each electrical clip. All the wires were also hidden so they knew just what they were after. I came out at about 3:10pm (a lot of classes get out right before/at 3pm) and the water drops on the vinyl hadn't run yet so they just got out of there before I came out. Otherwise I'd be whipping out my hunting knife and de-gutting a mother f*cker. And we're pretty sure her insurance will cover... But I'm not sure yet.

And I was thinking a couple Viper systems, I'll have to check into prices, tinting as well. And I'll check into that kind that has the key fob that goes off as well. Thanks for all the input!

I just saw the last couple posts too, I want a trunk monkey damnit! Haha I guess about a month ago in the same lot someone had their car broken into and the person popped the hood and busted off all the spark plugs. All of my classmates were in the shop with me but there's a couple hundred more that coulda done it. I too wish we could still hang thieves or at least chop off all their fingers. Bastards

Like someone mentioned before, anything from Directed Electronics are good. My brother has a Viper 5701, and i have an Avital 5303 (both Directed Electronics brands). I got mine off amazon for $100, and was super easy to install.

Isnt it amazing that after we pay for the stuff that was stolen out of our vehicle, and the repairs, and the increase in insurance sometime.. And after we pay for all that they caused, we then have to pay to house these guys in jail AND pay for there legal expenses because they cant afford it?! Rope is a hell of a lot cheaper!!

LOL at the trunk monkey!! we watched that in one of my engines classes the other day... if only!

Man that always sucks when low lifes steal your stuff. Had that happen to me a couple times over teh years. Since I'm up here in the frozen north I put autopage auto start/alarms in all my trucks. The Chevy's interfaced with the factory alarm and it and the ones in my BIIs are 2 way/2 mile xmit/receive and talk to my phone to let me know if anything is tampered with. They really weren't that hard to install at all, no worse than wiring in a stereo/amp really. The auto starts are great up here but the alarms will likely get a workout in Dallas.... Hope insurance covers your stuff.

When I first looked at this I assumed you had some sort of a run in with a lowrider. What's involved in aiming headlights these days? Did you have to shoot the bay and use one of those Hoppy contraptions? I never did see a problem with just shining them on the wall. It's quicker if nothing else.

Tinted windows also kinda work so people can't see what you got...but then again I could see where it would make them more curious. I wanted to get an alarm but they are so damn expensive, but it seems that they are worth it.

We had to get signed off on using the headlight alignment thingy for class-I just use a wall... But yeah. I checked into Vipers on line, about $450/truck is a bit steep for me, I'll have to check Amazon though. And if only, I'd be ok with electrocuting those assholes. At least my fiance's insurance is gonna cover it. It's just a major nuisance. I like rope a lot more than jail too... hehe

Learning to use the machine is a step toward getting licensed to do state inspections. That is big money here in Md. I don't know about where you're at. I'm all for just using the wall though, so long as I don't have a state trooper looking over my shoulder. I hate most aftermarket alarms. That said, if I was to buy one I have heard good things about Viper. Customer service is said to be good, and the alarm itself is reputed to work well. The tilt sensors, while potentially effective are nothing but a pain if you ask me.

whats an alarm going to do? even if you have a 2way pager alarm do you think it would it work in your shop building, in the mall, in the movie theater? the harder you make something to steal the more direct approach thieves are going to take to get in. up the drastic-ness in security and thieves will up the drastic-ness to get in. this is why honda pros flatbed hondas, why learn to pick the locks, deal with lojack, disable the alarm back up battery, find the dual fuel cut off switches, find the electric cut off switch, when they can just tow the whole car away to the chop shop in 10 seconds or less. if they want your sh!t they will have it, sad truth.

move out of the ghetto and choose your friends more wisely.

You don't deal with lojack. When turned on it allows the car to be found. I have never seen evidence of being it defeated firsthand. It is easier to rollback a car, but it is rare that thieves will do so. The longer it takes to get your car, and the more noise that is made in the process, the less likely it is to be stolen. Same deal with stealing things inside a car. If I was to steal something inside a car, I would want to be quick and quiet. I wouldn't want to be seen or heard, and that is pretty difficult with an alarm going off.
