wonder what the hell they did to get such gains in mpg lol makes me pissed I bought a 2010 lol

well, first off, i'm 99% sure it's only the 2.3 that gets that... but still i hear ya... i was pissed because i've got an 07, and i only bought it a year ago, but i feel your pain more... but hey, at least the 2010's have traction control... mine's only got ABS

oh, and that truck, is significantly less than what i still owe on mine...

I think that Canada uses Imperial Gallons not US Gallons. 39MPG Imperial = 32 1/2MPG US gallons. 32 isn't impossible if you baby a 4 popper with some sort of ridiculous gearing like 3.55 - which though not available with a 4 popper on Ford's website, IS in fact an option on a ranger nonetheless, though for a 4.0. As is, the 4 popper comes standard with 3.73 with optional 4.10 gearing. perhaps ford sifted through the parts bin to cash in on the "fuel efficiency" models coming out these days like the F-150 SFE, which is rated at 21MPG, and the Chevy XFE.

The same site also lists the 2010 model and that claims the same fuel mileage. How can it not be true? I read it on the internet.

I don't and won't believe that from Ford. I will let my Truck mags and my auto mags who really test the hell out of all vehicals to see if that is really true.

It's either the Imperial gallon measurement and/or a typo.
29 mpg is more realistic.

yup, its the difference between a canadian gallon and an american. an american gallon is roughly 3.8 litres. a canadian gallon is 4.2 i believe. so you have more fuel to burn per "gallon" NEVER look at mpg in canada, its all blown up numbers. 7.3l/100 = 32.22 mpg. 9.5l/100 = 24.76 mpg.

*sighs* That would only really be possible with a diesel. When will they learn?

*2nd overly dramatic sigh*

So you rather pay 30 cents more for diesel to get 8 mpg better?

In Europe, diesel is cheaper. Here, not so much. Gasoline prices fluctuate, and so what if it is $0.30 more expensive now. Why do the newer 4.0L SOHC Rangers only get a mere 15-16 mpg? Why would anyone drive a supercharged 450 hp Mustang, an imitation Hummer on a Tahoe frame, or a Dodge Hemi that gets 12 mpg?

So sulphur & NOx emissions become a concern with diesel; fact of the matter is that compression-based diesels have more hydrocarbon chains and potential energy than a distilled gasoline of the same volume. It's a different kind of clean, and does yield better mpg numbers. You may pay more here, but that may only be temporary. Then again, it could be permanent or even drastically increase.

A stouter bull under my hood would be fun, and I would jump on it if it was ever brought on over, even if I do only play offroad occasionally and use the bed utility twice a month.

here in canada, deisel is cheaper than gas, depending on the station... 92.9c/liter for gas, 90.9 for diesel (if you pay cash) that's what it was when i filled up about 4 days ago

Thanks weezl.

Where are you located? It's 1.10/litre here for gas and 1.09 for diesel.
