calgary, i saw posted in someone's sig on another forum yesterday the cheapest gas in calgary was in the 80's

just checked calgarygasprices.com, cheapest right now is 87.4, which was added 13 hours ago, and the most expensive is 94.9, that was updated 1 hour ago

diesel is priced 91.9-98.9 right now in calgary

for you, the supersave on feeny, has gas for 104.9 and that seems to be the cheapest in your area

(i added it in after the original post)

supersave? feeny? never heard of either...?!

Ohh they mean the Wholesale club I'm guessing....either way I won't get my gas there anyway...cheap junk.

I only run chevron in all 3 of my vehicles

So you rather pay 30 cents more for diesel to get 8 mpg better?

Okay, think about this logically: I have 4.0V6, 4wd and average 16mpg. Gas is currently $3/gallon where I live. Let's say diesel were $3.30/gallon and would give me an extra 8mpg (24mpg), that would be a 10% increase in price of fuel for a 50% increase in fuel economy. Now here is an example in practice:

I need to drive 96 miles:
With gasoline this would require 6 gallons costing a total of $18
With diesel this would require 4 gallons costing a total of $13.20

Lets say I need to drive 288 miles:
With gasoline this would require 18 gallons costing a total of $54
With diesel this would require 12 gallons costing a total of $39.60
For me this would be a savings of about $15 per tank of gas.

Okay maybe I have to drive 384 miles:
With gasoline this would require 24 gallons costing a total of $72 (also I would have had to stop and get more gas)
With diesel this would require 16 gallons costing a total of $52.80

I can't think of any other way to explain why people would pay an extra $0.30 per gallon to get an extra 8mpg. I can get 18-20 on the highway, but I use 16 because that's what I mostly see in warm weather, also the advantage would stay similar (diesel 26-28) I hope this helps.

It's simply more efficient. Diesels crank around 40-45% efficiency (energy lost to heat, vibration, & sound, etc) as opposed to a gasoline's 18-24%.

It really just makes more sense.

here in canada, deisel is cheaper than gas, depending on the station... 92.9c/liter for gas, 90.9 for diesel (if you pay cash) that's what it was when i filled up about 4 days ago

My gawd that must be nice. My end of Canada has been seeing $1.10/litre consistantly for a looooong time :annoyed:

I just tried ordering the 2011 Ranger...shows up as a regular cab with 2.3 5 speed...4:10 gears are standard...so I'd say it's the measurement of gallons...but litres/km is actually pretty good on that truck...I was only getting 10 l/k on my zuki, and that was a light truck...

No 4x4 option...and even though I've seen the 2.3 ext cabs I couldn't figure out how to order one without getting the 4.0 engine...

Let's all send me money so I can buy one, test it out, and get this settled...lol

hell, diesel is only 10 cents more a gallon around here, even if it was 30 cents more, i'd sure as hell take the extra 30 cents for 8 more mpg

I'd have a diesel Ranger not for the increased fuel economy, but for the low-end torque, the sound, and the smell. I love the smell.

i'd take a diesel ranger just because no one has one! i mean, if i could get my hands on one of the 80's diesel rangers, i would LOVE it... the newer ones were mitsubishi turbo diesel if i remember correctly

i just really wish i could find a new 4x4 diesel ranger with a 5spd manual. If they ever bring them to the US, im pretty sure thats what my next vehicle would be.
