Was at the junkyard the other day and I spotted a 99 Ex with mono leafs on it. I had never seen these on an Ex before. Are they rare or something? Aftermarket? Just curious.

The fiberglass monoleafs are factory on some 2-door Sport models (a small number of Rangers got the monoleafs too, most often 2WD base models).

The 95-00 2dr/sport models to be exact... I hated them and swapped them out for some 4dr leafs on my 95 exploder.

they wouldnt be good for offroad either, if u break it u are fawkd

Thanks. I was just curious. I know mono leafs seem to be all the rage on Wranglers according to a buddy of mine.

Skyjacker makes (made?) a monoleaf kit for YJ Wranglers, though I do believe they were steel, not fiberglass. Fiberglass isn't gonna like being massaged by a rock much.

skyjacker had real big problems with them sagging, couple of my jeepn buddies ran em with the rock ready kit and after about 3 good trips out they sagged to about 3".

i did see a tj in 4wheel drive mag that ran chevy astro fiberglass mono's on the rear, and he actually wheeled the piss out of it. but as with all mag articles theres no telling how long they last

I remember an article about fiberglass mono leaf lift kit for a Jeep. Don't remember the manufacturer but they did say they were warrantied against breakage. They were very confident about them.

The Explorer Mono-leafs are steel anfd only found on explorer sports.

they use a single really thick leaf.

they make a nice main leaf to stick the rest of an explorer spring pack onto to build a super spring... but don't do this on a Ranger that you intend to offroad where it needs to articulate... because it won't.

but if you want to haul home 3/4ton of coal...

i think it was black diamond, or warn, i cant remember. but they made them for older cj's(cj3a, early cj5, m38, etc.) but i dont think they were monoleaf.

yea monoleaf would ride good, alot of the lowered guys are running em, but offroad or performance a good traction bar will have to be used, u will get mad axle wrap

i made some packs for the rear of my old jeep to run sua with soa front. i took 2 3.5" superlift springs, used the main, a leaf from a 5.5-6" (2nd longest one) off a 88-98 chevy, and 2 stock yj bottom leafs, and the superlift bottom leaf. i got about 4.5" of lift, didnt get axle wrap, and flexed dam good. but it took some time to get it right. i had alot of packs of different springs and kept changing leafs around until i found what i liked, and man did it work good. ended up going SOA rear with those leaves and buying some 4.5" extreme duty RE springs for the front and it was a good combo

sorry to jack the thread, but since alland said something about making a pack had to throw that in there

Fiberglass ones do exist, I've seen 'em. Maybe it's just on Rangers then?
