explorer manifolds

:icon_thumby:
:D What Ford called "Headers" didn't appear til the 85 model year. And they weren't exactly "free flowing" :D They're all somewhat "pinched" at the head ports to gain clearance for the factory bolts. They're pinched in various other places too, to gain clearances for other reasons as well.

I never said they were good, just that they were headers and not manifolds.

I would have thought they came out with the foxbody, I hear more about the later ones than the older ones.

Maybe a better picture of the pinched stock tube headers and the cast iron versions.

How about pics of the driver's side ports of the cast 'sploder manifolds ? I'll be you can't fit a dime in em, much less a quarter.:D

I have a couple shots of the Ex pieces. They sure tuck in nice, but...

Look closely:

That's a '96 Ex 5.0 that I parted, not my Ranger! (result of parting it out was free GT40 heads and intake, throttle body, free shortblock for my bro, actually made a profit... wow)

I have 2 sets of mustang headers-86 and 93. Both are tubular and nearly identical. Drivers side is where I have a problem. It exits into the frame

Has anyone tried the block hugger hotrod headers from summit? Look to me like they might work.

I think they may exit right on to the ibeams, so making the rest of the exhaust could be tough. Unless you have massive lift...

I was looking at those as well, looks like you could cut the collector and maybe install an elbow but would still be tight. Might work on a 4x4 with a lift as Teddy said.:icon_idea:

I'm going to look at motor tomorrow to see where they will dump

I know this, I was responding to his post. Currently mine has no body
