explorer axles

Well, you can use the sploder t-case and driveshaft if your truck has an A4LD auto, if it's a manual it will be an FM145 (assuming it's stock), the FM145 is shorter than the sploder tranny so the driveshaft length will be wrong too and the sploder t-case is 95% sure to be an electric POS. Around here it's $75 to have a shaft shortened.

Swap in an 8.8 from a 1995+ Explorer. It has disc brakes. There's no reason to mess around with drums on a wheelin rig.

You already have the axle, so go the the yard and try to trade yours plus some cash for a disc brake axle or just buy and swap on discs. The yard around here sells the brackets off an axle for almost nothing, and then you can get the calipers and rotors at a parts store for under $150.

It's just that mud and gravel do not get along with drum brakes as they don't self clean like a disc, as others on here will vouch for. So when you have the chance to get discs do it...

I am (planning to) swapping in the D35 this saturday and hoping to wheel this sunday. But I have to bring my driveshaft in to get doctored friday (tomorrow).

I have both, my D28 driveshaft, and the D35 driveshaft. What do I have to get done? Keep my D28 shaft with the splined end and get the D35 u-joint end put on the diff end of the shaft? And shorten it? How much? (remembering that I have 6" lift)

thnks
