Is there a recommended sealer or gasket (or none required) where the stock exhaust manifolds bolt up to the stock Y pipe? 88 2.9. I am not finding where there ever was a gasket or donut.

Yours are like a huge brake line fitting correct? A cone and a flare? They do not require a gasket. Flat areas do require a gasket.

You are correct and thank you.

No gasket, and it can be a pain to get them tight. Make sure to tighten the bolts equally. Tighten one side and then the other until its snug

Just found here the answer to this question I 'developed' yesterday as I re-fitted my Y-pipe to the manifolds and found I now have a leak. There was no gasket in there from the previous owners, but was wondering about whether one should be there. Now I know I just have to fit them better and leak should disappear (they did not leak before either, without the gasket). 'Search is your friend'!
