Ok, I've been thinking of this all day...I know the trackbar and draglink have to be parallel to each other but, do they have to be the same length?

Yes, they do. The angles they are at means less then the lengths, but a perfect set up would have them the same in both ways.

It is the radius they swing at and length directly determines how the two react to each other.
If one is shorter than the other, the arcs will change and cause bump steer. If the angles are diffetent, it would have to be drastically different to notice imo.

neither of Stang's D30 builds have the DL and TB the same length. says he's had zero issues with them.

Perfect set up would be both same length and same angle. With that being said, that us hardly ever the case and sometimes not possible. But thinking if the mechanics of it, no one can argue it.

Same length, same arc throughout the travel. Different lengths, different arc throughout travel.


Now, with all that said, it would probably be ok to not have them set up perfect and not notice and issues. I'm no professional so this is all just my .02 cents.

My trackbar is like 1.5" shorter, but same angle and I have like zero bumpsteer.

I think them being parrallel is most important with the length being as close as possible...

with Plum just being 1.5" shorter, I doubt that the arcs are very much different....

but say make them at 4"-6" difference in length is a whole different animal...

Been really busy the last few weeks, helping my brother on his Toyota and trying to get everything for my 1ton/hydro assist steering upgrade. Today the rest of the pieces came from RuffStuff.

Started on the steering. Have it all torn apart, the stock xj stuff is gone for good.
What a pain, trying to get the trackbar and draglink parallel. I finally figured it out after a hour. Tomorrow I will get the dom cut to length at getbentkustoms. He has a really nice cold cut saw, and he will cut out all my templates on the plasma table. Also while I am there, he will bend some shock hoops for my brother's Yota.
Also need to to get another 7/8" drill bit. I broke my new one already.....pics will be posted when I am done.
