Escorts 2nd SAS

Yippie! Got another driveshaft. Came from a 2001 Sport Trac. It needs ujoints. Got it for less than $75 with shipping. I will just keep the aluminum one for a spare.

So the ex cab driveshaft is the same as the sporttrac and the reg cab is the same as the explorer. Now we know...

Did you end up finding one by your place or did you order it from one of the places I sent you?

This was from car-part website. A place in PA had it. Everyone had aluminum ones and i didn't want another one. This Guy was very reasonable and accepted PayPal.

Good deal! The gold dura last ones or the spicer ones are the only ones I'd run. I've been through both. They hold up about the same and cost is about the same

I wont get crap from AutoZone anymore since I worked there. As far as ujoints, I will pay the little extra for the spicer joints from Fort Wayne Clutch and Driveline.

Started to change the valve cover gaskets. What a pain. Too much stuff on top of the motor to move.

UPS just dropped this off.

That driveline has rubbed on the skid plate at some point in its life. I suspect it came from a lifted Ranger :icon_twisted:

That's looks like a spot where a factory sticker was. It came from a sport trac.

Driveshaft has new u-joints and fresh paint. The valve cover gaskets are done. A fairly productive day.

I have no clue how to change ujoints myself so I have to bring stuff like to shops but need to see how to do it for my ujoint axles for my D30.

Cool thing is with the sport trac driveshaft is it has 1330 u-joints. So I upgraded from the 1310 in the aluminum one to 1330. Cool!

Sounds like info that is needed for the tech. library.

Since I had the engine apart to change the valve cover gaskets I decided to paint the intake with some old leftover paint.

WTF! Getting vibrations from the driveshaft now. :banghead:
Guess I need to check the runout on it. Hopefully it just needs balanced and isn't bent.
