Escorts 2nd SAS

I have another set of side and spider gears. So if i weld them and dont like it i can always pull them out. My Heep buddy says Ausie sucks. He would use lockrite over anything else. He sugests a detroit. But that is way over my budget. Says Spartian is ok much bettter that an ausie.

Just my opinion, My aussie is sweet. I have beat the snot out of it, on 38's and it has held great. I would like to know why he thinks it is so bad.

Next time i see him i will ask.

I want to get an Aussie for my D30. But I see that the Spartan is cheaper but I need to look up what other people think of the Spartan vs Aussie is....Ive heard alot of good things from Aussie and have known of its name more then Spartan.

I think Spartan is still fairly new. I wouldn't be scared of one tho by what I've seen. Charlie broke the one on his d44 in his TJ. But then again he also stripped Yukon gears... So... He was being hard on it. Several of the jeep guys have Spartans and love them. Same with the Aussie.

I finally got the new speedometer cable in last night. Only had it for a week. Just been to busy to put it in. When I had the dash apart to pull the cluster out, I seen this....

Someone must of been bored when installing it or something. Thought it was a little weird.

Also I might put these center caps on. I have them left over from the factory wheels.

you're lookin at it upside down, they're just 9's lol

The center caps look nice, I would put them on.

Yes they do look nice. But I need to drill holes and tap them for the screws. Other than that......

Had to pull the spring out to put a taller spacer on the driver side. It was sitting lower on the driver side and was annoying the hell out of me. So when I dropped the axle down I took this pic. This is at full droop.

EDIT: you can see in this pic how short the front driveshaft is.

Mine leans a bit on the driverside, I wonder if they make a spacer to go under the coils for our axle.

Not that I am aware of. You would have to fabricate your own. I used an XJ lift spacer. I have 3/4" on passenger side and now added another 3/4 on the driver side. sits level now with a full tank. Might be higher when tank is empty...oh well it will level off with me in it. :icon_thumby:

Got the new to me diff cover on. Didnt know it was an aluminum cover untill i started putting the gasket sealer on. Oh well it will work for now. At least this one is not cracked.

Oh also i got all the center caps put on. Looks nice. I should of done that earlier. I'll snap a pic of it when i get the truck washed.
Decided on not welding the rear. I will just wait for the locker. Dont want to cause more problems later on since this is my DD.

I just noticed that your brakes are from the 90's seeing that they have the clips to hold them on built on the brake pads. Mine are from the 80's so have to be held on with separte clips but I did notice on mine that the caliper cylinder is larger then those of the 90's when I went to go find out the year of mine and the brake pad material is thicker too.

I still like the way we have run our front brake lines, all that flex and no chance of stretching a brake line.
