Escorts 2nd SAS

I might need to get some new axle bearings soon...

and shafts:sad:

As he said, the frame was bent, engine was shot and its just easiest to convert this truck to 4wd seeing it has the 4.0 and all the other good stuff plus its newer and has one spot of rust on the body.

Ya I hated to see her go, since it was an extended cab.

I also agree, looks like it needs new shafts, they look shot.

Not getting much done on the R&P change. Broke my bearing splitter. Trying to get a new one from Snap-on. Should be here tomorrow according to the Fed-Ex tracking number. This is the first time I EVER broke a Snapon tool.

Alright got it all done but not finished. I need get up at 4am tomorrow for work so I have to quit for the night. I got the new splitter and in no time had it all together. Looks good but I did not take any pictures, hands were to greasy to mess with the camera. Now come the break in period. It's going to be hard not to be hard on the throttle for 500 miles. I need to find out what the speedometer will be now, it had 3.08 with 225/70r14 tires. now has 4.56.:icon_thumby:

Next week I should be starting the axle swap :icon_welder:

Nice build. If you don't mind me asking, approximately how much did you spend on the first SAS? And you used a D30 right?

so how you liking that 4.0 over the 2.3

not sure how much i spent. If i would guess it would be close to $2800. But that included tires and rims too.
Yes i used the dana 30.

love the 4.0l i have to take it easy on the throttle especially when its raining. It's also nice to be able to pass someone now.

Oh ya the rain isnt my friend in my truck either. It likes to spin the wheels taking off or worse fish tail around corners when I go to accelerate (has happened) and with MT tires too.

Took it for a drive after work today. Everything looks, sounds, and feels good. My speadometer is way off now. My GPS said 40mph, gauge says 65mph. Going to drive it around for a week this way before I do the axle swap so there will be less stress and torque on the r&p with the smaller tires.

No pics were taken. My kids and wife take lousy pictures so I usually take them myself, but with greasy hands? not going to happen. Most people know what a ring and pinnion look like anyways. :thefinger:

Thinking of next weekend starting the swap. Thinking I could get it done in a 3 day weekend. I'm only mounting the front axle then my next weekend off I will swap the transmissions. Oh, I found a 4.0L 4x4 trans at a pull-a-part for $75 with core. I will give them the old junky TK5 as a core. Not to bad of a price but might need to be rebuilt.

I use gloves while working on stuff then when I need pics, take them off and have halfway clean hands to take pics with, plus help protect them too.

Try havin a 4.0 in a B2. Its freakin awesome. Ilike the 3rd gens.Should be a nice build.
