Engine size tax

I never thought that i would see a tax for a 3 liter engine

f---ing tree huggers!

Hey not sure if ya'll have seen this but it seems that washington is trying to pass an annual tax based on engine size...once again screwing with blue collar workers and anyone with a truck.

:temper:

get used to such, the democrats want a government big enough to run your life, every aspect of it.i can't help humming a few bars of the beatles "taxman".dig deep boys and girls, have you heard obamas plan for the economy, creating jobs?

That's gotta be a joke, there arn't many engines out there under 2 liters. I honestly can't see this passing and if it does, I'm moving to England and I'll get me a bad assed ranger.

cause i'm the taxman,yeah-ah i'm the taxman, and you're working for no one but me.

oh if you guys get it...i will be very next....we have so many damn tree huggers up in augusta....ohhh you cant put on a bigger size tire on a automobile if it has abs....damn tree huggin hippies

here in quebec this law is effective since 1 year or 2. If you have a car(or truck) built 1995(i'm not sure for the year but it's around this) and you have a 4.0l and up you pays a tax. bigger is the engine, bigger is the tax. The solutions: keep your old Ranger o buy one with a 3.0L engine and put a 5.0L engine in. ;)

I know that here in Texas (don't know about the other states), there's a Gas Guzzler Tax. I don't know what the rate is and if it's yearly or just when you buy the vehicle.

Oh from what I've heard, the tax also counts on cars with antique/collectible plates, even if they only get driven a few hundred miles a year....refuckindicoulous.

Costs for all vehicles

Engine Size (liters) Rate Schedule
2 Up to 1.9 $0
3 2.0 - 2.9 $70
4 3.0 - 3.9 $225
5 4.0 - 4.9 $275
6 5.0 - 5.9 $325
7 6.0 - 7.9 $400
8 8.0 or over $600
:shok:

I'm guessing this is for gassers only for now???

If not...watch for prices on EVERYTHING to go up again.

I was refused my raise again....all the while my company keeps raising prices on stuff.

At least on the chart above there is a cap of $600 For anything above 8L....I'll remember that if I drop a 549 IHC in my ranger (9L).....:D

That motor weighs more than my truck!

Maybe it's time I get a Ranger FFV and fire up the still again...

I think we (as a country) should fight this. What's a little 1.9l engine gonna do? The only engine I know of that's under 2liters that can still produce a lot of power is a rotary. But, the sad thing is that they're worse on gas than the hp equivelent v6 or v8.

I forgot to add, why have gas prices gone up so much and oil companies continually make record profits yet there has been no publicly know investigation? I for one don't belive there's an imediate oil shortage, now maybe in 30+ years. I think that there's just some guy sitting in an office over at Exxon saying "I think I should say we're running low and let the price per barrel jump to $100+, my son wants a new jet ski."

They keep making record profit b/c we keep paying. The only way to keep them from screwing us is to stop buying it (short of gov't intervention, which I really am undecided weather I condone that or not)

And the rotory engine in the RX8 gets pretty damn good gas mileage (though not like a well driven 4 banger) and it is sooooooo fun to drive:drool:
