Life is too short for cheap beer.
Well, I scored a set of Pacesetter headers for my '06 FX4 4.0 SOHC and I've snapped the engine oil dipstick right down by the o-ring. Luckily the whole tube came out of the block and nothing dropped into the oil pan. Anybody heard of that happening? Should I replace it with a new one or shadetree the tube with some RTV after breaking the bottom off clean? I'm hoping to get it back together before 22 Jan. Thanks for the ideas and input!

Shadetree fix with rtv is a guaranteed leak. Replace.

get a new one

If anyone's curious and since I needed my truck I went ahead with the RTV fix. My drive to work is 34 miles round trip including Interstate and the dipstick tube held just fine. The trick is to know how to use RTV properly apparently. I did order a new one so I'll replace it to be safe. Thanks for the input anyway.

The trick is cleanliness and taking the time to slow to set up and also needs to be in a place to work well. Apparently you did well, but I still would suggest replacement. Not sure of how long it will last
