engine issues

my truck seems ot miss or just stop running while under load, i cant go past 60 at times and spits and sputters goin up hills even just slight hills, i dont know if its engine trans or fuel but ill start here , when i push in the clutch and reb engine it revs up just fine but when goin down the road and i give it gas its acts up even if i go push the as in just at 1/4 way down ,im also thin kin about replacing the ground how many are there and what should i replace them with any special wire ??

that sounds like bad spark plug wires or a bad coil. how old are the wires? are they cracked or burned anywhere?

spray some water onto the coil and spark plug wires.. if the truck runs worse or dies then you know whats the problem.

the coil could be shorted internally too

And it's not throwing any codes? Checking for vacuum leaks is easy. Spray starting fluid or equivilent around the hoses and whatnot. If the engine revs, you have a vacuum leak. Maybe check the compression. The second post is what I would do. Check that all are in working order, though i doubt the TPS is at fault.

some time when driving the lights/radio will shut off and when it does the dummy light ems(i think) comes on then off

if it is the compression what will that mean ?

wires are six months old the coil is brand new about a week ago

Check all your ground wires if the connectors are good sand them metal to metal. Once you get the wiring and vacuum lines in order and sure their are no vacuum leaks run the codes. erase the memory and then disconnect the battery for 30 min then run it at medium speed until it gets fully warm then run the codes. Also check the knock sensor it is by the starter in the block clean the connectors good with electrical cleaner it could be that is not retarding the timing under a load and yea get the base timing set or at least check it. The spout looks like a in line fuse but is just a jumper bar.

how many grounds are ther

Batt to engine, batt to computer, batt to chassis, coil to engine, computer to chassis and probably a few more on the harness just trace all the length of the harness from the computer to the coil and take all them apart and sand them metal to metal also check the wires for cracking any bare wires and pull the connectors apart and look for corrosion computer to coil also and use dielectric grease to put them back together and make sure all the pins are all the way in when you put them together a small ice pick or screwdriver works good to push them all the way in.

how about the distributor cap and rotor? the cap can get carbon tracks on it that short the spark to ground.. and the rotor can get worn out so bad it doesn't make contact anymore

yup rotor and cap was changed out same time as coil also did fuel filters

then you'll need to find out what your fuel pressure is.

get a fuel pressure gauge and screw it into the fitting on the fuel rail.. it looks like the valve stem on a tire
