I have a 89 4x4 manual transmission that dies when slowing down especially when releasing the clutch and going into neutral. I’ve replaced the crankshaft position sensor and egr & ICM so far. Engine idles perfect and runs perfect. when engine dies it is quick, no choking or feeling of lack of fuel or air. I’m stumped. Help.

Hows your IAC valve?

I second that, idle air control is likely the culprit and would be the first place I would look

Ok I believe I replaced that about a year or two before this issue started happening but I could replace it again 👍 I’ll try it.

Buy a Motorcraft or Hitachi brand. Other brands don’t work as well with our Rangers.

Replaced the IAC valve, no change. Still dies 🫤

Once warmed up and running in neutral, unplug the IAC and see if the engine still runs, if you have a tach it should be running around 500rpm, if it stalls screw in the stop screw a little bit at a time.

Tried it, I have no tach but engine still ran after disconnecting.
